Hi, and happy to have a forum for my PT-7030. Admittedly, and even though I spend a great deal of time listening to and tweaking AV gear, & even LOVE most of EMOTIVA's/Sherbourn products, the PT-7030 has been both a headache and a worry. A headache since I need to constantly adjust speaker levels & it won't "keep them" (although entered), and a worry due to marked heat produced even when in standby mode. It does have very adequate ventilation, and I would consider adding external fans, but WHY should this have to be done if the product is properly operating. This has been present since day one, but per my usual self-douting & double-checking habits, I didn't just box it up and send it back, albeit should have. Now I hear of the "not really balanced" issue, and I wonder what we have all been sold! My unit does not upconvert, i.e. no surround for TV, although it does well with that for standard CD's in the 7.1 analog ins & outs. Any clues as to what is up? Lastly, I did initially WANT to order the newer Pre-pro from EMOTIVA, that presumably is coming out, but after waiting a year (?), I went ahead with the PT-7030. (Is this why they offer the incentive now for upgrades?) I Really don't want to "dis" the company, as other products have been exceptional, to say the least !!! So 1) Why the heat? 2) Does it up-convert? I'm using an SPDIF from the cable box now re: TV. I do have the return HDMI hooked up. 3) Love the BlueTooth, but it seems to be starting to skip with signals. 4) The company has not been easy to reach. Prob. the real question is whether to stick with this company or go to Marantz or more likely, just a simple Airplay included receiver (7.1 or likely 7.2, balanced!). I like the XLR cables (but am concerned about the "balanced" issue. Time to get out the testing equipment? I did have to actually hook up some of the insides of the 5 channel amp which "matches" the PT-7030, as well as install 2 loose fuses right out of the box! (with kind guidance from tech support)....and newer versions of the manual have been helpful. Tuner in never worked, so use another input... Thoughts??? I truly hope we haven't been "duped", and doubt this somewhat due to the quality of build of a very few other products I've used. Thanks!
