Let's help those looking at the new Panasonic displays determine why one is better then the other. Please keep the focus on Panasonic and if you feel the urge add a post about the S series too. Please try to avoid talking about Samsung, that's another topic and thread. We have enough material with keeping the discussion centered on the Panasonic displays for 2013.
Has anyone been able find information on the difference in the red phosphor between the ST and the VT and ZT? The only thing my searches are turning up are that it is more "pure", but that doesn't tell me if it is because of a shift further into the red, or if it from better suppression of side bands. US patent application 20120206034 talks about the impacts on luminance of various oxide coatings, and mention suppression of a slowly decaying orange band, but I haven't been able to get anything out of it that helps with a direct comparison to the previous generation. Since Panasonic listed this as a significant selling point, I would have thought that one of the reviewers would have asked some questions or performed a spectral analysis to measure the difference between the two panel generations.
From what I have read so far, the primary subjective (as opposed to measured) difference of the VT over the ST is the superior anti-reflective-filter and the lesser input-lag (very important to gamers) on the VT. So if you are not a gamer I guess the main qustion is how much you want to pay for the better ARF on the VT?
