Welcome to the AVS PlayStation family! Add some PSN friends...

Thread Starter

I just wanted to take a second to acknowledge the increasingly large group of new posters we are seeing in the PlayStation sub-forum here at AVS. Some of you own or previously had a PS3, and some of you are jumping on board the Sony bandwagon for the first time with the PS4.

Either way, if you have non-technical, PlayStation-related questions that you don't want to make a new thread for, feel free to ask and someone here will help you. If you are having technical or setup issues, we have a sticky thread dedicated to assist you in getting things resolved.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of the other awesome members who frequent this area of the site when I say we are very happy to have you guys around. cool.gif

Tips for New PlayStation Gamers

  • Grab the PlayStation app for either the iPhone or Android devices to browse, interact, and communicate with your PSN account while offline. Highlights include access to the PSN store and remote download control for your console.

  • Shoulder buttons (L1 or R1) sticking on your DS4 controller? Here's a fix.

  • If you want to have a converter to play an XBox controller on your future PS4, Tyrant II suggests keeping an eye on this company's products in this post.

  • Seriously consider joining PlayStation Plus right now if you have a PS3 (it is now required to play most PS4 online games). The PS+ store discounts are pretty awesome as is cloud saving and auto-updates, but the main appeal is that some terrific games are free for members to play as long as they subscribe. For many of us, this service has been one of the best deals in gaming. Check out the crazy list of stuff we've downloaded in the last twelve months alone! eek.gif

AVS Member PlayStation Network IDs (and forum nicks)

Below are names of people at this site (organized by region) who are looking to add to their PlayStation friends list for online multiplayer vs. and/or co-op fun. If you want to be added, it would help to know a few things about you:

  • What is your PSN ID? I'll add your AVS forum nick right after.

  • Which region of the country you are in (west, east, north, south, or central)? This is so people have the option to synch timezones and/or choose to play competitive games against closer players for reduced lag (important in fighting games).

  • What type of genres you are into? Name specific games if you wish; members can read it in your post.

  • When sending an invite request to a member, you have a better shot at being accepted if you mention you are from AVS! (thanks PENDRAG0ON)

+1 on this advice. PS+ is incredible value. If you did not wish to buy one game all year round and just played the free PS+ games, you would be good.

This month: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Saints Row: The Third, Uncharted 3, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. All really good games for free. Only thing PS+ is missing is free sports games.

+ 2 on PS+. The only negative is that it has greatly added to an already bloated backlog. Too many games!

Hey Joe, is there any way we could set up a thread that would allow people to add there PSN id's, especially for new comers so that people can start sending friend requests? I want to fill out my friends list with the people on this forum so we have some cool level headed gamers to play with.

I'll keep the list updated in the first post of this thread, and you get the honor of being the first entry.

Woohoo!

Nice thread, great way to start some positive vibes around the next generation. I agree on PS+ about a 1000 percent. It's such a great added value that if you aren't using it you really are missing out.

As for PSN IDs, mine is: pw38

edit As an aside you might want to put the avs member name next to their PSN id so we can know who's who since some like myself use something different than their AVS handle.

Welcome. PSN Conspiracy

Currently playing a lot of Playstation Allstars Battle Royale.
Looking forward to:
The Last of Us
Beyond Two Souls
NCAA 14

The Order looks really cool as well as Beyond Two Souls. Between my Gaming PC, PS4 and Wii U I am set for next gen. IF Sony can pull off Remote Play with my Vita I will be ecstatic. Playing ANY PS4 game on my Vita via WiFi will be awesome. Can Tether my Vita to my SGS3 and play while I am out and about if needed. That's awesome to me.

Nice, I'm still getting used to it. Little bit of a learning curve, but overall the quality is way better than 2k. I stopped playing that franchise at 2k10. Do you play online or just offline franchise?

If I play online, it's usually co-op.

PS3 owner and PS+ member. I have to admit i have not been taking advantage of it and I always miss the good games when they are free.

I'm currently getting my azz handed to me in BO2 (Black Ops 2 ) by teenagers. They say practice makes perfect but so far....i'm just not "getting" it.

Good thread. I only recently started playing a lot of my PS3 (all single player) and will probably get a PS4 for Christmas or soon after. Some of the multiplayer games look quite good so it would be nice to have some good people to add to my friends list at that time.
For future reference, I will be sending all the people in this forum a friend request. That also goes for the people that post in the future on it.
PSN Id is in the sig. Feel free to add me. The only games I've played online much are Uncharted, WipeOut HD, and NCAA Football.

Wow, even more new faces and a few old ones. tongue.gif

I've updated the first post with the latest members' PSN IDs. I also went ahead and added info on a member's favorite genres for online play if they were mentioned. This should make it a bit easier for people to zero in on what kind of players they want to add to their friends list.

Check it out, and if I get something wrong with your entry or you want to add/subtract some info, let me know!
Hey Joe, you can go ahead and change mine to all genres. There isn't a single one that I don't play that I can think of. Well, I don't play music games, but pretty much everything else.

Updated.

One more bit of info that I think could be helpful... let me know which region of the country you are in (west, east, north, south, or central) so people have a better idea of synching timezones and/or playing competitive games against closer players for reduced latency issues (important in fighting games).
Add all Genres to mine too. I am in the central US so I make a great host in shooters.

I think it'd be interesting to see a user map to see just how spread out or not everyone is. I know people value their privacy though so maybe generalized locations is for the best. I'm in Texas btw and I tend to veer towards racing and adventure games.
