If there's ever been a presentation that has demanded a CIH display system this is it. While much has been talked about the Imax aspect changes, this movie shows proper use of aspect changes for telling a story. I don't need Optimus Prime or someone's face to get twice as big as the rest of the movie as a novelty item. Hey!, look!, now were using are Imax camera. I'm not knocking Imax as a whole, as I've enjoyed their original features since I first saw them in the early eighties. But this movie is different. This is how its done. The aspect change was a downright necessity. This kept to a linear presentation and when the Land of Oz was revealed with the aspect expansion and color it was truly dynamic. And thankfully the production team, which did a phenomenal job, had the insight to do extensive set shoots instead of CGI. I can't believe with 74 years separating this film from the original that they fit so well together. To bad they didn't have Scope in 39' as that would have made the original, or, I guess, what is now the sequel, even better. I don't even know how you can watch this in anything other than an up close CIH presentation. BTW, the audio and video are both stellar with the video having just a touch of softness which is appropriate for the movie. Best twelve bucks I've spent in forever. I look forward to many more viewings this week.
