Pioneer VSX-1123 or Onkyo TX-NR717 or something else

I'm in the market to purchase a new receiver however I'm at a crossroads and I could use some advice. Does anyone have any recommendations on the Pioneer VSX-1123 vs the Onkyo TX-NR717. They both seem like really great receivers with one being this years model (Pioneer) and the other being last years (Onkyo). They are both within the same price-range at the moment but I just don't know which one to get.

The only significant different I see is the EQ mode. Pioneer uses Advanced MCACC and the Onkyo uses Audyssey 2EQ. Should I take one over the other? I've been reading a lot of threads stating that it's better to purchase a receiver with MultiEQ XT however receivers with that technology are out of my price range. I'll also be running this receiver in my bonus room with KEF speakers all around and I'm not sure I'll be able to notice the difference. It seems that most of the threads have posters that have actual movie/listening rooms which I don't.

The Onkyo is also THX certified though I'm not sure if that has any noticeable benefit.

So which one would you fine folks recommend? Should I go with the Pioneer and the MCACC or the Onkyo with the Audyssey 2EQ (and no AirPlay) and THX certification. Or is there something else out there I should be looking at? The Yamaha receivers are available in my area in the same price range but I've never owned one before. I've only had Pioneers for the last 15 years.

Thanks for any advice!

2EQ and MCACC will not EQ the sub. Check out Denon's line as their receivers include MultEQ and up.

That I understand but is that something I would notice in a bonus room with a TV or do I need a proper home theatre room to take full advantage of MultEQ?

I think you would notice as LFE is where most of the problems are found.
