IMO I would suggest looking to spend just shade more and going for the xls1500 or higher. The xls1000 has a weaker power supply and components. Bumping up to the 1500 gives you a little more power, and better build quality. Not to say the xls1000 is bad, just moving up to the xls1500 or more is well worth the extra coin. I have experience with both the 1500 and 2000 and They are awesome little amps. The blue LED display can be a bit bright, but just go get some 3m window tint from Lowes or HD and the problem is fixed
FWIW the 50hz HPF is something that neither you nor the second poster would be concerned about with using them for sub duty. This statement:
"HPF is a lil higher @ 50Hz, which practically renders it useless unless it is powering sealed subs or assisted by outboard dsp if used for a ported sub."
is not accurate. The XLS series is perfectly capable of running any type of sub, or mains speaker for that matter. The 50hz being a "lil" higher at 50hz is meaningless, since it is entirely selectable and defeatable.
Scll, where are you in NC? If you want to hear an xls1500 we can arrange a meet-up. I am in Asheville.
