setup question for 8 speaks outdoors

Thread Starter
I am about to buy a Denon E400 amp. I'm getting a good deal on it, and the wifi app for the android/apple is great. it is a 7.1.

I am going to use this in a 2 zone setup.

Zone 2 is in my kitchen/breakfast room and has (4) 8-ohm speakers. Should i wire these in parallel or series?

Zone 1 is left with a 5.1 setup. I will use it throughout my patio / back yard (8 speakers, all 8 ohm). I had been wracking my brain trying to figure out a combination series/parallel setup that would work for 2 channels, but then i realized i have 5 channels to work from. Can anyone confirm that these channels can be setup to output equal power (since i don't need surround style setup). Ignoring the center channel and sub, I was thinking I could wire 2 speakers in parallel for each of the 4 remaining channels.

I'm not an audiophile or anything close, and won't be cranking up the system ever. i chose 8 speakers given the odd layout of my patio / yard and i wanted somewhat even coverage.

Does this plan make sense? will the receiver actually do this (and not try to go into surround mode). am i thinking about series / parallel correctly?

have you considered a multi-zone impedance protecting speaker switch
