Are PMs private or are they read by AVS admins?

Do admins read and censor Private Messages between AVS members?

Admins can see PMs and confirm spam, threats, etc. This is spelled out in the ToS you agree to at registration.

The word Private in the description creates an expectation of privacy that in this case is not justified. I suggest that you add the quote below from your Privacy/TSO policy in bold, easily readable font to the Private Message composition page.

"The use of the the Private Messaging Service is not “Private” in the sense that it is a message seen only by the sender and receiver. While the message is private from the rest of the members, it is not encrypted and the administration of AVSForum.com, Inc. can view them if needed. All rules that apply to posting on the Forums ALSO apply to the use of our Private Messaging System and violators may have their posting privileges subject to the same revocations as on the Forum in general."

Your reply suggest that instead of "can view them if needed" in the policy should be changed to "all message are reviewed". Or, are they only reviewed after a complaint?

Messages are NOT reviewed unless needed as stated. The are private as they are not open to the public like a normal post.

Thank you. You did not address my suggested addition to the Private Message composition page. Any programmer should be able to make the change in under a minute and it should be done today.

Do you honestly expect Huddler to grant you more security and privacy than even the United States government does? Welcome to the Internet...

We do not feel it needs to be addressed as it is covered in the TOS.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I am sure that you know that by Internet tradition, no one reads a site's TOS unless/until they get an infraction or warning for violating the TOS.

I alway like to start my day with a laugh. Your reply means that today I will get two. Going to read Dilbert now. LOL

Thank you.

Yup. It's funny, but true. But we surely are not going to add each and every thing to anywhere you can post something. smile.gif

Now you fall back to a defense of using a false argument ad absurd-um. My suggestion specifically said to change ONE page -- the Private Message composition page.

You miss the point...if we change that, we might as well change every page where anything can be posted to reflect the TOS in full so someone does not say..."Well I did not know that." which is more or less what you have stated about the PM's.

Not defending anything...just stating the reasons.

All in all, no longer really need to continue down this round road.

Take care.

Using a false argument ad absurd-um to defend another false argument ad absurd-um, amazing!

There is a very simple solution to this dilemma . . . If you don't want David Bott, or the NSA, or the Chinese to see what you say.. Don't say it on the Internet!" rolleyes.gif
