Klipsch RF-62 ii or 82 ii

I picked up an rc-62 ii and love it. I am going to get my towers next to go along with the rest of my system. I find my B&W's to be too power hungry and hard to place properly. I am a game/movie 90% and music 10%. I also have the two dayton subs so I am not sure if the extra bass from the 82's will be necessary. I was wondering if anyone had heard both. I only found one article/forum that had advice. Thanks.

I would get the 82s, they are better speakers and you will never sit and wonder what if. Both are very nice but the 82s are better (and should be they cost more).

Just wondering what you think makes them better. I have heard bass is better in the 82's but I also have heard the mids come in better on the 62's due to less bass. Thanks for the reply.

Well bigger speakers have an advantage over smaller speakers when everything is equal or better. A bigger speaker works less to do the same thing as a smaller speaker. The rf-62 will have to work a litter harder to play at the same levels as the rf-82. What that means is less distortion and a little cleaner bigger sound with the same amount of power.

Thats not saying its a better value just a better speaker. Only you can say if its worth the extra money.

I understand...and thanks. I am trying to learn as quickly as I can. The stock in amazon is going down fast. I am leaning towards the 82 ii for now. Thanks again

If you were able to hear them side by side the 82 would have a fuller, richer sound.
The midrange blends into the bass better and it is a much more substantial sound.
The highs are not covered by the bass, not sure where you saw that but in my opinion simply not true.
There are two reasons to choose a smaller RF over a larger RF and neither are sound quality.
1) Price, I am a big believer in sticking to a budget.
2) Space, sometimes even a little bigger is to big.

So if you have the budget and the space get the 82s.

Budget is fine. I am ok with the 200 difference. I have my HT set in a large bedroom 22x15 or so. I also will think about the future and having these in a proper theater room at some point which is my draw to the 82 ii. With the rc-62ii I know both will match well. Thanks for the help!

Take a look at Sound Distributors and use TV15 code in the shopping cart.

i would call acoustic sound design and get a quote (you have to call them for better price). They will be way cheaper than amazon. Also you can call avs and see what price they will give you.
