Replacing Speakers in an old Curtis Mathes Royal Dane

I recently bought an old Curtis Mathes 'Royal Dane' HiFi Cabinet that I plan on using for my TV.

It looks like this:

I'd like to replace the speakers behind the speaker fabric with two Wave Crest - HVL-1 Two-Way Loudspeakers.

Am I hindering the speakers by confining them inside a cabinet?

Thanks for your help.

Hello, welcome to the forum.....

I do not think you will have a problem with the pair of enclosed speakers within the cabinet. I'd use a thick layer of carpet foam underlayment (or similar) to break physical contact between the enclosures and the cabinet....and position the front of the Wave Crests (without grill) right up behind the audio cabinet fabric. They should work fine.

What are you using for the electronics to drive the speakers ?

Thanks for the reply. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. Good idea on the carpet foam.

I'll be using a YAMAHA RX-V573.
