Stoker (Blu-ray) Official AVSForum Review

 

I'm surprised there isn't any discussion of this film.

I thought there was a great story behind the film, but the direction was quite poor. It's as if the director wanted the actors to wink at the camera to let the audience know what they were doing or thinking. "I'm being seductive" wink.gif . "I'm being sneaky" wink.gif . "I'm doing something wrong" wink.gif . It really annoyed me.

That's an interesting take. I will admit Kidman's performance seemed "been there, done that" but Mia and Matthew really nailed their parts I thought.

I agree about Mia. She was very very good and managed to tone down the "winks" as opposed to the rest of the cast. There really was some solid stuff in the story.

AVS is not a place for talking about movies. It's about derailing threads with politics and abusing others who have different opinions. smile.gif That said, I do want to see this movie.

I saw it. It's an interesting hitchockian thriller (with a lot of references to the great Alfred by the way)... The problem is that it didn't have enough thrills imo... And Nicole Kidman really needs someone to tell her her fake lips look absolutely awful.

We could probably do a bad plastic surgery thread here. I've seen some ladies on some soap operas go from really beautiful to some horrible monster.
