The jvc might have a better overall image, while the epson will be a light cannon that isn't quite an "ultra contrast" pj. The jvc might be the better deal, if it's in good working order, but bulb costs may be a bit higher? 1300 hrs isn't alot on a pj, but I'd make sure I could see it working. Also, be aware the Epson will be limited in it's placement due to it's lack of "lens shift". Only 10 hrs on it? Kinda makes me wonder?
The jvc isn't bright compared to the epson torch, but it's reasonable enough in a light controlled room with a proper screen, size and throw distance.
I think for $1k, I'd throw out the used Epson, and instead consider a new Benq 1070 however, if you have no issue with a dlp.
