Do you think that WII U will have a price cut by the time ps4 and xbox one comes out?

I was hoping that by E3 it would have gone down. I want one. but don't want to spend 350.00. I think that for that price they should have included the wii pro controller. I remember the nes snes and sega genesis days when you got a game free with the system. It is a shame that these companies are so greedy that they make you buy a game when you spend so much on the system.

The $350 model comes with a game: nintendoland

I think they're pretty much going to have to have a price cut, or at the least a really sweet bundle, about a month before the PS4 hits.

Also if you adjust for inflation modern/current-gen consoles aren't much more expensive than older ones -- maybe cheaper, if anything.

true but the price seems a bit high compared to the 400 dollar playstation 4.

So buy the $300 one. It's usually on sale, the pro controller's nearly useless anyway and Nintendoland's $20 used.

I think I could get a good bit of use out of the Pro Controller and it's definately on my Wii U want list. Just the Virtual Console alone should keep it useful for my purposes even if it's of just fairly limited value for retail releases, although I'm sure that situation will improve as time goes by (Such as NSMBU being patched for it recently and and the Luigi expansion supporting it from the get go).

So if they keep the price as is, I'd love it if they tossed in a Pro Controller with the package to sweeten the deal, And hopefully change the pack-in to something like New Super Mario Brothers U as long as it remains a physical disc with a proper case like Nintendoland is. Would definitely be a lot more bang for the buck in my eyes.

I have absolutely zero interest in Nintendoland.

"I want one, but don't want to spend $350.00."

That should have been the end of this thread. The asking price is the asking price for a new model. Everything else regarding a price drop is purely irrelevant speculation and a waste of everybody's time. A price drop will happen when Nintendo decides to drop it. They aren't sitting in the background reading AVS and now smacking their heads saying "A price drop?! Why did we never think of that?".

"the price seems a bit high compared to the 400 dollar playstation 4."

You can only walk in to the store and purchase one of these items today.

$2000 for a 70" LCD today seems kind of high compared to a $1200 unicorn-powered, 90" LCD from 2017.

I would love for them to come down a little in price. My kids are starting to take a real interest in gaming and love anything Mario related, so I would love to get both of them their own Wii U for Christmas this year.

i don't think they will have a choice.. as it is they aren't selling much at all..

You have to figure something is going to happen... maybe not a price cut but a game and a pro controller packed in. Just be patient and keep your eyes open, there have been some really good deals.. heck NntendoLand is $17.99 at Best Buy right now! I think they also had the white pro controller for $19 recently.

The 3DS price-drop was a pretty radical move for Nintendo, since they almost never actually reduce the price of a going console. Instead, they bundle the living crap out of it. I fully expect them to do the same thing for the Wii U. Rather than reduce the price of the core device (though I no longer see that as an impossibility), the likelihood is much greater that we'll see some special bundles come out for the holidays, like a Wind Waker HD model in Green with a special version of the tablet, or one with extra stuff bundled with it.

Honestly, the Wii U's failures are primarily those of marketing and (as before) a lack of strong third-party releases. I hope they can turn it around, as the Wii U gets the most play in my house right now (in part due to off-screen play). Hell, if it had a bluray player and could run Crunchyroll and Vudu...well, it would reign supreme. Just being able to use it as my primary Plex player makes it king.
