Xbox Live 'Games With Gold' - Page 2

AC2 is up. Press X to use microsoft points for free or at least I think that was the runaround I did to find a free option buried in the UI.
Now I can give my right index finger a rest speeding up the action in Defense Grid challenges. I'm going to finish that game or die trying.

This one sure doesn't seem like anything to be excited over. If it had to be an XBLA game, I wish it had been something like Hydro Thunder Hurricane or Perfect Dark.

I'm fairly certain I saw reports that those two games would be coming out in July too. When they originally posted articles on the concept back in June I think they said those games would be the next releases...of course those articles also said that the free games would begin in July when they began in June...

AC2 put me well under 90GB left. At least now that I 'bought' it, I can scrap it for space and get it again later...

Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero free for Xbox Live Gold members in Aug.

Quote:
Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through the Games with Gold program in August, according to a post today on Major Nelson's blog.

Realtime Worlds' open world action game Crackdown (normally 800 Microsoft Points or $10) will be free Aug. 1-15. Capcom's zombie and handcrafted weapon-infused Dead Rising 2 (normally $14.99) and its downloadable prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (normally 400 Microsoft points or $5) will be free Aug. 16-31.

Microsoft unveiled the Games with Gold program in early June, which provides Xbox Live Gold members with free downloadable games on the first and 16th of each month. To date, Fable 3, Assassin's Creed 2 and Defense Grid: The Awakening have been included in the program.

I'm looking forward to playing these titles biggrin.gif

Nice. I already own Crackdown on disc but I'm gonna use this as a reason to sell it and go digital. I also never played DR2 so awesome as well. Good to see competition has spurred MS to offer more incentives with Gold.
Sweet. I have the opposite. Need crackdown, have DR2.

I guess it's safe to say by now that the only things we'll ever see on GwG are over 3 years old?
Well, maybe, maybe not. Regardless these are decent games and not everyone has played them. I'd like them to match Sony with + but baby steps here. smile.gif

sell Crackdown? it's like $2 to buy at Gamestop.

I'm glad Dead Rising 2 and Case Zero are free. finally some freebies that I don't already own. man, going to have to clear out more space off the HDD to fit them though... painful.

Official AVS Crackdown Thread

Looking forward to getting the digital copy of Crackdown- it is one of the older disc games that isn't recommended for HDD installs. Although I'll admit that my original interest in the game was access to the Halo 3 beta, Crackdown turned out to be a fun sandbox game that was easy to get sucked in to.

Crack down has one of the best music soundtrack I have heard. I love it on a good sound setup/headphones.

My son and I loved playing Crackdown and I never picked up Dead Rising 2 so looking forward to it.

I never paid any attention to Crackdown, but at least everything so far have been games I don't already own. I hope Dead Rising 2 is fun. I own the original but never got around to it.

I would like to see some of Microsoft's older XBLA releases be included here. I'm running low on HDD space thanks to these retail releases and games like Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Toy Soldiers are releases I intend to buy anyways.

So it would save me money, they don't take up a ton of storage space, and they're games that are only available digitally. As someone that values physical media, I'd just as assume go for that option when available (Although I won't refuse a free download of a Games on Demand release). So I hope that Microsoft brings out some more XBLA releases.

And I really hope that Perfect Dark Zero isn't one of these freebies but I bet it will be.

These recent games put me down to 5GB of space. I really need to delete some things or find a transfer cable and swap out the 320GB drive I have on my tertiary 360 and put it in my primary 360.

I got five bucks at the local movie trading company. biggrin.gif

I didn't need it anymore anyway so anything I get for it is more than keeping it around and taking up space not being used.

Hey, nice! Just double-checked my collection and it looks like I don't have DR2 anymore...must have traded it in a while ago. Cha-ching!

Apparently because Dead Rising 2 and Crackdown aren't classified by the German ratings board, they're getting Shadowrun and Lost Planet 2 this month in lieu of these two games.

So that's a possible preview of some stuff we may perhaps be getting a bit later on down the road. I hope not though since neither one was on my radar and I haven't heard good things about Lost Planet 2 in particular. Edit: And while it's not uncommon for me to have a drastically different opinion on a game than the norm, their Metacritic averages sure don't impress. I hope Microsoft sticks with higher rated games for North America.
Yeah Shadowrun wasn't a bad game but if MS tells us that's a worthy of a free game promotion I'll be disappointed. I did the beta and no one played the beta so I can imagine how the release version did. Lost Planet 2 wouldn't be bad though as I never played either LP games and I've heard generally good things about them.
Lost Planet 2 won't hold up against what's out there today.
No less than Crackdown. The games are decent, it can be argued though they need to be giving away newer games and I'll agree with that. Still, it's a nice step in the right direction for them. I'd like to see it continued past the end of the year. Hopefully it becomes the norm from now on. Not like there's not a large library of games to choose from.

Crackdown was a critical success even though its sales performance was modest. So I'm much happier to see that and Dead Rising 2 than Shadowrun and Lost Planet 2 (Although I'd be up for the original which seems to have been a solid game).

They obviously aren't going to be releasing newer releases here. But I hope they at least stick with higher rated ones from their back catalog.

I thought crackdown did surprisingly well saleswise b/c of the halo beta

That was the entire reason I originally bought Crackdown. But then I ended up really liking Crackdown.

Magic 2013 and Rainbow Six Vegas for September. I didn't have any problems with the first few selections, but they're doing some deep digging for some of these, wow.

I have never played either so it is a nice bonus for me.

if they were going to pick a Vegas title, it should've been Vegas 2. That's still a lot of fun. Terrorist Hunt! My friends and I still play that one. One of my friends who never ever plays these shooters, actually loves the game. We were shocked that she liked it and actually told her not to try it based on her gaming habits.

I've always been kind of curious about Magic but never wanted to drop money on it. Now I can see what it's about. I remember my roommates in college played that all the time.

What kind of a game is Magic 2013?

It's the "Magic the Gathering" card game in console form.

It's also last year's version despite the 2013 in the name. This year's is Magic 2014.
