Xbox Live 'Games With Gold' - Page 3

Those magic games are not much more then an intro and marketing ploy to try to get people into the real game. Really limited, mostly mono-color decks and no deck building.

If you're anything like me it is just enough to get really into the game and then totally frustrated with the limitations. I'm sure it's intentional as they are trying to drive people to buy real cards or play on MTGO where you can easily spend $100's a month.

At least in Magic 2014 there is a sealed mode (you open 6 packs and make a deck out of what you got), but they made it so you only get to do this twice on your copy of the game (can of course buy more slots off DLC though). Would have been really interesting and driven a lot of players to play long term if they made this tournament style. Open your packs, make a deck, play through a 10 round asynch swiss tournament online and then get a new set of sealed packs and start over.

I'll download Vegas but I'm pretty sure I already own the retail version. Have never gotten around to it and always install my games anyways, so this will allow me to keep my disc in its case.

But I'm not even going to bother with this magic game.

I'm fine with XBLA releases and I'm fine with slightly older ones. But at least make it something like Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Perfect Dark HD, Toy Soldiers, Banjo Kazooie, or something else of the sort that has more than just very niche appeal.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and Halo 3 next month.

The lameness continues. Halo 3 is a great game but how many 360 fans haven't played the hell out of it yet? And of those, how many have any interest in playing it?

About 70 Million out of 80 million sold. This can be said about any game in the past. I still pop in Homeworld and C&C Generals. I plan to download it as part of my library so my kids can play it again.

3 months ago a bought a friend a 3 month gold sub for the soul purpose of playing halo 3 with him. Turns out I was mislead about the game release schedule and now his 3 months are up. Well he got several free games in the deal so he gets to keep those at least.

At E3 2013, we launched Games with Gold as a limited-time program to thank our Xbox Live Gold members. Within that short period of time, we’ve seen an overwhelming response, with more than 120 million hours played with Games with Gold titles. Today, as a part of the “Week of Xbox Live,” we’re excited to announce that we are making Games with Gold an ongoing benefit for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox 360.

Yes but only on the 360. It would be nice if they also had games for the XBOne.

I think Kameo will surprise you BD. I absolutely loved this game. I played it at launch and couldn't put it down. It has beautiful graphics and a surprisingly charming story. And the difficulty can get pretty hard in places because of some loose mechanics. I was very disappointed the MS scrubbed Kameo 2 in favor of Conker and Banjo Kazooie. Two games I didn't care for. Have fun with it. Try El Shaddai AScension of Metatron too if you get a chance. It's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. And the story & music is intoxicating.

It's actually a fairly decent platformer. I enjoyed it a lot.

Was kameo one of the Games with Gold titles? If so I think I missed it.

I kind of regret selling my copy of Kameo when I finished it, so I certainly wouldn't complain if it were added...

Kameo was a pretty good game and it wouldn't surprise me if it turned up as "Games with Gold". Given that it's 8 years old it would be jeered by many and held up as a further example of why "Games with Gold" isn't as good as the "free" games with PS Plus.

Which is a shame because what difference does it make how old the game is? If it's good it's good. It's all a part of this generation after all. Then again this has been such a long generation that many kids into the Xbox and PS3 weren't old enough to even enjoy launch games. That 13 year old trash talking knucklehead on CoD was 5 years old when the 360 launched. Sorta puts things in perspective then on why they always want to focus on new games. These kids don't have a memory far back enough to remember when Kameo first came out! lol

I kid of course but still, a game is a game. Good games are good games and I'm always happy to get a good game for free.

It's not enough to be good....it has to be a good game that I'd actually still consider playing, or that I haven't played already.

You're the exception. I'd say it's a safe bet to say the majority of people with a 360 now have never heard of Kameo (as an example) and based on it getting decent reviews wouldn't have a problem getting it for free. I'm not saying this is acceptable compared to what I've gotten with PS+ but really, outside of the hardcore like us that have been with the platform long enough to remember the launch most people aren't going to get upset over a game like Kameo being free. Then again maybe I'm the exception because I don't see things like that and I enjoy playing older games regardless of how old they are. Either way while I agree that it'd be nice for MS to focus on getting recent games onto the program I have no problem with them giving us decent games from this generation regardless of age.

Oh, great. A couple of $5 XBLA titles rolleyes.gif. They're not even trying. Kameo would be a big step up.

One of my favorites of all time! Bought it right after the XB360 launch. Totally surprised me. Played like Legend of Zelda with "Balls". Just a beautiful game from a graphics standpoint. Damn...I might play it again soon. Haven't touched it in years. But I'll never dump it at Gamestop. Definitely worth downloading if available. Or picking it up used for $10. Just a load of Fairy tale fun. If you like that sort of adventure.

It's available as DD from XBL for $15 (here). If I catch it on sale (or they offer it as a GwG selection) I'll pick it up. It'd be fun to play again.

I found Kameo for one buck at a flea market. Out of curiosity how is it that so many old games can show up in a big box at a flea market all loose with no case? Just flip through them like playing cards. I just want take a moment and hang my gaming head in shame. But then I walked away with a buch of old games I never played for really cheap and forgot.

Man, just loose disks just floating in a box ? I'm surprised they would work ok and not be all scratched to heck.

Even though they're both fun games, I've got to agree. If Microsoft were serious about competing with Playstation Plus, they'd be offering more. I honestly don't understand why they don't. You aren't cannibalizing sales from major games that have been out for two years. Where's Gears? Where's Viva Pinata? Etc. I mean these are OLD games, and they're still not being offered up.
