Mac Mini Setup For Music Server

My plan is to purchase a Mac Mini Server, load all of my CDs using Apple lossless, and then stream to my Anthem AVM-20 preamp DAC. I will use my iphone as a remote.

Assuming all of this can be done, my question is, what output from the mini should I use to minimize jitter and give me the best sound when converted by the Anthem DAC and sent to my amps? Will this configuration be comparable to a good CD transport? Incidentally, the Anthem AVM-20 is an older model preamp and does not have HDMI.

My current CD transport is the Cambridge Azur 752BD, which sounds good to my ears. I'm hoping the Mac Mini to AVM-20 configuration can sound comparable but give me the convenience of storing my large CD collection.

Since the AVM-20 does not have HDMI and the mini does not have coaxial you will have to use an optical cable which will sound fine. You will need an adapter for the mini's end. Your system should sound very good. The AVM-20 is a really good piece of equipment. Good luck.
