I have been looking at the Samsung UN55F6400, LG 55LA6800, and the Sony KDL55802A. Then today I walked into my base exchange and I see they have the Samsung UN55F7100 I can get for $1300 with no tax. I see it has a lot of good reviews. I will be using it for general tv and watching movies. No video games. I will be sitting between 8 and 15 feet away. I will be hooking up a Boston Acoustics TVee model 30 sound bar and a blue ray player. I do not have HD tv.....trying to keep monthly bills down. But I do use the digital tuner for the free HD (720p) channels. Currently I have a Sony KDL40V2500 (I think that is the model number) LCD tv that is about 6-7 years old. How does the 7100' stack up to the tvs I had listed above? Someone said Samsung has a better panel than the LG and Sony. I have noticed some blotchiness on some LG tvs at best buy. Also I connect my sound bar with a fiber optics cable and RCA cables. On my current Sony I have to have a digital source (HD tv or dvd) to get sound through the digital out. When I watch regular cable tv I have to use the analog out. Can someone tell me If I need a digital source to use the digital out for the sound bar?
