Download that and put it on your phone. Pick a time slot, there's a few good ones, and record it. I'm happy to do that. It might be a couple days.

I'm really not in any hurry any longer. I put away the mic and everything else. But I don't mind throwing up a video comparing excursion if it helps the community.

My eyes aren't great (with a detached retina years ago followed by Lasik more recently, they're actually not bad for my [middle] age), but I've avoided blindness so far. ;)

And, to give credit where credit is due (and much deserved), the file is from Archaea's subwoofer shootouts, for which there are several (interesting) threads.

Depends on what PSA finds with my subs. If I don't go PSA I will go DIY.

Ok hope they find the peoblem

At this point i really do not think it matters since PDX is going DIY. He is building 4 - 18" SI Sealed Sono Tube subs.

Actually that's six SI 18s, two dual opposed boxes and two singles. biggrin.gif

And, it matters to me what the outcome is. I spent a lot of time trying to dial those PSA subs and It's pretty fair to say there very well could be and an issue. I commend Tom for handling it the way he ended up doing so.

I would like to think that all of my time and energy I put into those subs for weeks will in the end help Tom and Jim uncover a problem they might not have otherwise uncovered.

If Tom says there's nothing wrong with those subs then I'll chalk it up to me being a dummy. What other option would I have? We've all been through this already.

I'm sure Tom will post the outcome here when he has had sufficient time to evaluate my subs. If he finds nothing wrong with them well then..... he is the pro and I am the rookie at home with a cheap mic and free software..... and bad ears.

I know it matters, I meant that you would no longer be using a PSA sub when I said that. Of course we want to know the details, I actually asked him about it today. smile.gif

I'm anxious to see how this turns out.

My subs have been back at PSA for a bit now. I finally asked what the heck was going on with them, and almost three days ago Tom told me nothing. There is nothing wrong with them.

I suggested he update everyone here in this thread, but I guess he's been too busy shipping out Triax orders (congrats to all those who are finally getting their woofs!)...

I wanted the people to know the news whether it from me or Tom.... and..... Tom took to long so here it is.

Thanks to all who helped throughout this debacle. Feel free to check out my new build thread in my signature. Got an entire section reserved for graphs. biggrin.gif

Well I guess you must be an extreme bassaholic, hopefully the diy setup does the job. smile.gif
post #565 of 600
Thanks for the update.

It's a real shame you had to go through all of that. I hope your new sub build is a success. smile.gif

I just have to laugh at your post bass. This is coming from a guy that runs 3 XV15’s and hot at that (not cutting you down I do too) and goes by the name of basshead.

Im just basshead, PDX must be extreme-basshead...smile.gif

All kidding aside, we will know more once PDX gets his DIY project up and running, that way there is something to compare to.

Given his experience with the PSA subs I'm very interested in seeing how it turns out with his DIY subs.

Well this will be like having 6 XV-30's placed around the room. If it does not help then he needs a better room or 4 GH's!

Actually, probably more like 4 XV30's @ 16hz.
