Is the regular DVD version better?

Going off the one screenshot comparison, Scream Factory's color correction has rightly boosted the contrast over the SC transfer. That change is hard to criticize given the leap in clarity and pop. There is some added filtering going on with Scream Factory's transfer, but it also looks from a possibly newer scan of the elements.

The 'dead' people hanging around the church should have a blue tint, otherwise, the rest of the cast should not.

The Shout! version has obviously been sharpened. I can see that even without the aid of direct comparisons with the SC disc. That's what give the illusion of greater 'clarity' and 'pop' (ugh, I hate that term). The SC release isn't a brilliant catalogue title, but it's not a case of that version being soft, it's the complete opposite.

After have watching the DVD for so long, I was amazed at the quality of this Blu-ray. Fantastic!

The sound was also more boisterous too!
