currently using a xtreamer pro, that im looking to replace. it sometimes reboots on its on, audio out of sync alot of the times.

im thinking of purchasing a xbox one or ps4 for gaming but would also like to see your thoughts on which would problly be better at streaming / media playback. and would you think it would be better then the xtreamer pro?

mostly mkv files and avi.

i know neither is out yet just didnt know if you've read anything online regarding any related information or persona opinion.

I would say neither since they will have CINAVIA protection on them. This will make any movie encoded with CINAVIA not playable.

I wouldn't expect either to do a very good job with streaming. They just don't want to have any mass market box that potentially makes streaming ripped or pirated content easy. That's the rub. Hell, if one of these big companies wanted to hunker down and make a GREAT streaming box they could, but they just won't. That's why we have to hope for good boxes from companies like Dune, Mede8er, Pivos, etc.

^ Precisely. When the studios crack and allow their content to be legally d-loaded and stored...and they will crack (many movies are already available for purchase through itunes), the game will change dramatically and we'll actually have MP options that work 99% the day they hit the streets.

I'm prolly in the minority but I think we'll see this within the next 2-3 years.

Until then Irish is 100% correct: 95% of these boxes will continue to emanate from these tiny to down right nefarious fly-by-night outfits- many of which have insurmountable playback issues, spotty support, and at times, hilarious price points due the to the lack of competition from other companies that manage to most or all of the aforementioned pitfalls. Most here know who I'm referring to, here.

Just wait until this genre of playback s fully "appleized". Whether that's by apple or someone else.
