Okay, here's more impressions of my new Viz80.
Delivery was trivial for single story. One guy with a lift gate - hand trucked to the front door and then the two of us carried the box in.
As previously written, I already had the Sharp non 3D 80 - which I was happy with - so why was this costly upgrade necessary? Of course, I asked myself this many times during the process and all the way through the hours of in home demo yesterday.
Picture quality is on par with the Sharp, but, with a decided edge to the Vizio in black level.
It's no Panny, but, the extra dark gives it just that much extra pop. I don't see any obvious anomalies discussed in the large M series thread.
The 3-D really is a game changer. I've seen a number of projector iterations of this and none of them were this ghost/crosstalk free - or as bright (I also tried 'Uncharted 3' in 3-D but it was just 'meh'.)
Viewing angles are significantly improved over the Sharp.
Surprisingly, I think what really puts this Vizio over the top and into the 'totally worth it' realm is the super slim non-reflective bezel. It seems like a relatively unimportant detail in the grand scheme of things, but, it really does make a big difference in the modern, high-tech feel of the device (both on and off.)
