Have you tried it without the DVDO Edge?

Is there any way you can get an OTA HD signal via an antenna?
Other than that I think you should get it repaired/replaced.

I'm looking for a stand for the 80 inch vizio. Any chance you can post a picture of what it looks like?
Here's a picture of the stand I got from Bizchair (the Innovex Oxford 83). It looks even better with the Vizio.
How about a picture of that stand with the vizio 80 tv on top?

DIRECTV has a couple of 3D channels (e.g., 3net, etc). When I tune the receiver (genie) to those channels, it shows a "TV does not support 3D or no 3D hardware detected" message on the screen.

I have everything connected to my Denon receiver and a single HDMI from the Denon to the TV. I did not have any problems with my Sony TV. It's the same setup. I can play 3D fine from my PS3.

Any ideas?

I get the same message because my actual genie box is hooked to an non 3D display. However I can still watch the recordings and feed in 3D from the little remote box.

BTW, isn't it irritating that they spelled it "glassses" in the prompt? smile.gif
post #610 of 890
Try connecting the TV directly to the cable box via HDMI. Maybe the Denon is the issue

In my case, the genie is actually connected to my 3D Vizio and that's the TV I am trying to watch.

hmm I am using a Denon X4000 and the Genie remote. Aside from the incorrect prompt it works fine. I assume the PS3 is also running through the Denon?

Yes, the PS3 is algo going through the Denon. Maybe I'll try the HDMI cable the PS3 is using, just to rule that out, but if I remember correctly I am using the same high speed cables across the board.

Hey bigcat, looking at your signature I see we have similar tastes in TVs. Can you tell me how this tv look against SXRD or HX? I'm in the fence with Samsung 7050.

Thanks

The SXRD looks like crap next to this Vizio TV. The Sony HX has an awesome pic (I believe it's a full array LED). I'll tell you something, this Vizio TV once calibrated, it rocks, I am extremely happy with it I am not missing any of my Sonys at all.

Questions:
1. Can we use external keyboards and mice with this HDTV since its internal inputs is so awful with their RCs? I know we can use computers, but that is annoying enough to connect, set up, etc.
2. Is it me or does this HDTV's included apps seem to be very slow and sometimes do not work?
3. Is there a way to use Time Warner Cable's TV service wirelessly with its an app on this HDTV without a computer?
4. How do I clear YouTube watch history? I know search history can be cleared, but where's the watch one?

FYI, still no latest firmware updates for this HDTV. Bah! frown.gif Thank you in advance. smile.gif

I tried everything I could suggested in this thread (from system info menu, connecting with a network cable, powering on/off, etc.) to get the firmware to update, but no luck. I experience those issues as well, apps are slow, I think the computer inside the TV is not that powerful.

Won't say unhappy but not happy either, especially with the remote and not being able to control through WiFi, slowness...

OK, it doesn't seem like we can do anything from our side and have to wait. frown.gif Maybe Vizio pulled the latest firmware due to problems? That can happen. I am not going to worry about it unless everyone got it already. :P

I read that Smart TVs have horrible GUIs, usabilities, designs, etc. You're better off with a computer connected to HDTV which is way easier and faster. Smart TVs are new stuff. :/

Yea, it's frustrating. frown.gif

^^^ that's unfortunate. But this is Vizio, so hopefully an update to correct this will be coming out soon.

I have the latest update and it works great. Updated YouTube app and Netflix and I can control the tv from the bathroom if I want since its now wifi.

And I think the apps are pretty quick compared to the sharp tv at least. Also I found a way to stream mkv and mp4's. I've been working with Vizio behind the scenes on this and a program called TvMobili will do it!!!

Bump for wall mount suggestions, I'm not seeing many on Amazon that have the 600mm vertical measurement needed for the 80". Just looking for either normal flat non adjusting or tilt.

Thanks!

Get the plasma wall mount from mono price that looks like this. Holds 180 pounds and tilts.

You have the 80"? Cause none of the mounts I see work with the 600mm vertical size, or is this size incorrect?

Thanks!

Edit: Just saw your sig. Can anyone confirm the correct size of the VESA holes?

What's new in its YouTube app? The old one is horrible slow and buggy. Does it let you clear watch (not search) history? frown.gif

I ended up getting the Sanus VMPL3-B through Amazon. It's definitely not the cheapest at $144.99, but I absolutely can't imagine anything more safe and secure for my Vizio 80". The way it's constructed, it can be expanded to over 32", meaning I've got it mounted in THREE wall studs (16" centers). Here's a link to the Sanus product page (click "View Features Video" to see the expanding feature): http://www.sanus.com/ap/en/products/visionmount/tilting-mount/VMPL3#

LInk to Amazon product page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0008GP880/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#productDetails

It allows for either flat or tilting mount - I used the tilting mount even though I'm not tilting the TV, because it brings the TV out from the wall a little (in case I need to mess with cabling). I'm not pulling this thing off the wall just to plug in a new cable!

By the way, I just checked the online (on TV) owner's manual, and it shows a mounting pattern of 400X400. In any event, the Sanus mount works.

My company installs these big TV's daily. Bar none the best mount for a TV this size is the Ollo T-86.
This mount will hold a horse on the wall and stretches to secure to 3 studs and will support up to 220 lbs.. Tilts 15 degrees as well.
Thick beefy metal construction with quality hinges. Here it is on Amazon.
Don't cheap out on a mount. I have seen more than a few fall from bad welding and weak hinges.

I used the same mount I had on my last tv. This mount was 6 y ears old and held a 180lb plasma.

http://simplicity.sanus.com/index.php/us/en/products/tilting-mount/SXDP3

It lists it only fits up to 60" but it's just outdated. And ignore on monoprice when they say it only fits up to 60-70, etc. You want to be concerned with the "weight".

Again, the mount I used was 6 years old and specs say 60", but it's the weight. I also bought this mount,

http://simplicity.sanus.com/index.php/us/en/products/tilting-mount/SXDP6

but returned it, as it only lists up to 120lbs and our 80" is 113lb. I feel more confortable with a mount that supports 200lb.

It's quick and you can shoot videos from your iphone to it without it hanging.
