I can tell yoiu one thing--I had DirecTV back in 2005 before they started all the downrezzing and the HD was SPECTACULAR! It never has been quite that good since though it is better now than it was 4 or 5 years ago.
The COP OUT phrase of all times from the Satellite provider sales force is--"We've always had compression and couldn't even see TV without it."
You get those kinds of phrases whenever anyone questions the downrezzed crap that they're sending out.
It reminds me of people talking about how great edge lit LCD is or rear projection TV is--as long as people are selling technology you will always have the lying apologists for the technology industries trying to push their sales!
Face it folks--we don't have much REAL TRUE 1080p--we wouldn't have any resolution at all if it wasn't for Blu-ray but even having said that you can hear the charge of the 4K brigade~ How down rezzed and sucky will that be on satellite?
Of course the only way you'll even be able to see a super downrezzed version of it from the satellite providers will be if you PAY more!
Get ready folks--there are already future posters practicing posts about how paying extra for it is a great deal!
They'll say I just don't get it!
Some things never change!
