You sure can not, however plasma can not even come close to the 90" Sharp price tag.

I'm calling bs on that one I talked to you on the phone awhile and you told me how much you got two of those lovely 85 inch pannies for now you sold them for more yes but not the point you can hook a brother up lol wink.gif

They were far less then the sharp 90
That is correct, one unit was lower than the sharp, I will probably never see that price again. Certainly not on a regular basis.

Already done wink.gif

I did not keep one, but I really, really, really wanted to. I new the 85" Panasonic would tank in price, just decided to let it go. I usually only keep units for a year or two anyway. She was heavy as hell too. I would have needed a lift to get the unit in place. Not to mention this new 90" from sharp will just slide in the spot, 1/2" from the mantle to tv and 1/2" from the ceiling to tv. Perfect !! We'll see when I decide to actually buy one. 80" shown below.

These things seem to have gone out of stock in the past few days, JUST as I was needing to get one! Amazon is now showing 1-2 months. Guess I should've pulled the trigger last week.

When I was a kid I bought something and it was the wrong choice by far. I was about 11. I called the store, "Hills", LOL. I got bad information from employee's when I called and thought I could return it more than once, but I did not have the box. They never took the piece of junk back. Now I keep it all ! I was ruined for life at 11. ( LOL )

I kept the box for my 70" been a lifesaver during my moves. I keep everything until the return period is up unless I find a use for it. (My Wii U box's double slots makes for great storage)

I installed the TV and noticed a discolored band from top to bottom other the left and right side of the screen. The band is about 2-3 inches and more pronounced on the right side( looking at tv). I contacted Sharp and they sent me a form with instructions to send some photos. I complied and sent them the photos for their review. I was contacted and was told that I had 2 options. Have the 90 replaced by BB or Sharp. I went with Sharp for the replacement. Sharp gives themselves 14 days to replace a tv once and exchange is initiated. I am not sure what will occur if they do not exchange within 14 days but I suspect some sort of compensation or possibly a refund.

So I will wait for the exchange and start again. I will provide status once things happen.

Any updates regarding your exchange for a new set?

I am also experiencing some banding on either side of the tv, mostly visible on a uniform light colored image, nothing too serious during actual program watching but wanted to confirm if it's typical of all the 90" panels.
Everything else is working just fine on the tv,aside from the screen inconsistency you wrote about, so I wouldn't want to risk getting a new tv, only to find other issues besides the banding.

And I wonder how much better overall is the 657 over the 745, in terms of picture quality and useful features?

Not sure that anyone has had the opportunity to really compare the two, but just thought I'd throw that out there, in case I did decide to make a warranty claim and they offered me the choice.

WOW,

Believe it or not I am still waiting for Sharp to get this tv in stock. They call me almost weekly with status. I am on some sort of priority list. I will report back as soon as I receive the replacement st.

They are out there, but super short supply.

Now that this TV has been out for a few months, has anyone been able to determine the best configuration settings for optimal display as of yet? I have one coming from Sharp as my LC-80LE857 was damaged. I decided to go for the upgraded size, however the rep from Sharp told me the picture would not be as clear as my current set as it is a 120hz refresh instead of 240hz and does not posses the Quattron technology.

So my questions are two fold, one, does anyone know if there is really a degradation of quality coming from the 80in to 90in and two, what are the best configuration settings to mitigate this as much as possible if so. Thanks!

Hmmmm 240 is just as good as 120hz doubt you see much of a difference there. Also since you replaced your edge lit set with this fully array did they make you pay the difference curious how that worked. As far as settings I have not seen any posted for the 90" actually. You will end up getting a better overall pic after all you did have a edge lit set

Finally bought this ... As of now they state they'll be in stock 10/30/13. This date has repeatedly been pushed back so I'm trying not to think about it. Now trying to figure out a stand for this beast. Any recommendations? Wondering what will be a good height ...

They are so many stores that sell stands for big TV's,Bestbuy,HHgregg,Costco, Sams club, try them.
I used a "coffee table" from Walmart for my 70" since stands were so expensive. $100 and it supports over 200 pounds easily.

*no idea why they call it a coffee stand, it has 4 slots for AV equipment.

Been looking around for larger TV stands ... Thinking one of the Salamanders may be ok but $1200-1500 is a lot. I do want something more furniture like than metal and open (the latter can be found for $400 or so). Not a ton of stands available that are 81" wide or more.

Anyone have any opinion on where is better to buy an extended warranty ... From the store of purchase or from Sharp? Store's extended warranty is $1100 for this beast.

Thanks for the replies!

Sharp , call them to register the unit call the Aquos # in your manual & then ask about the extended warranty , it will way less the $1,100 . Sharp will give you 4 years & 3 months
it's a full replacement contract & if the display is ever faulty they will deliver a new unit even a current model & pick up the defective one ,

Delayed again to 11/5 ... Thinking of canceling and ordering from Amazon where it's supposedly in stock now.
Pleasant surprise ... Delivered today! Initial impressions are not great in terms of picture quality ... Maybe I am a bit close to the TV so I can see the artifacts and individual pixels? I am about 11' from the screen. Still working on adjustments.
