A question regarding colour temperatures...

Thread Starter
So I've recently started to dabble in manual calibrations (fairly basic) as I used to be content with simply using the preset av picture modes. My question is why is it that in movie/cinema modes the colour temp is always set to warm? Most of the guides to calibration also suggest using this temp. What is the reasoning behind this? I find that I prefer the normal/medium modes for movies as warm causes the movie to darken and thus the image is not as vibrant. Is warm supposed to be more realistic? Am I doing it wrong?

Edit: I just noticed there's a forum dedicated to calibration, if someone could move this thread I'd appreciate it.
