you miss the point...its not that they shouldn't be contestants...and what qualifies as rich? I think the point is about needing the money more than wanting it...granted even those that need it may not really need it compared to others, but their want maybe to own a home or a car...where as the relatively well off person most likely wants the money for a second Porsche, vacation home, etc. Let's not focus on qualifying those differences as right or wrong so much as it is the way it is....most see the less well off and poor as underdogs so they want to see them win or excel.

Many of these challenges seem to favor someone(pl) at a particular point in the game. At the redemption challenge, I was amazed no one simply reached their arm into the netting at the end instead of still trying to inch it out when it one would have been simply able to grab it, unless a rule was one had to stay on the side to get the block out? It was literally inches away from the end of the rope tunnel yet they were still using their fingers to get it out from the side....bizarre.

Hmmm... not trying to argue, but when two people say (in effect) they don't want people who have "enough" or "a boatload" of money to win the game, then I stand by my original statement. I just want to see the best player win.

we all do...then I will clarify again...the best should win but doesn't always...many of us are idealists, but realists...let the best win.....let the neediest next best get the money if the winner is that well off...look, I get it...it is virtually impossible not to get into a class war discussing these issues...but there are too many variables...most often on Survivor the "best" does not win....and the best is definitely relative in Survivor...some would qualify who ever wins that season as the best...many of us would qualify some of those who were voted off as best, but obviously they are not the winner.

Laura is obviously capable of coming back into the game and making a strong pair. The real question is who isa true goat. I would imagine Monica might fit that role because of her paranoia but she has been a tough competitor otherwise. Everyone else seems fairly likeable at least as far as the editing has shown.

Early on this season, I really was against Monica .. however, with her taking the necklace now, what .. back to back 3 times .. ?? I've gained some new found respect .. the funny part for me is, the camera is ignoring her .. so either she's really laying low or has nothing to say .. we don't even see anyone in her alliance confirming what her vote will be ...

Agreed .. when it goes to the Jury, it's always a crapshoot ..

However, at this point, if Monica can continue her streak, makes it to the final 3 .. she's got a pretty good shot .. in fact, even if she loses a challenge, she may still not get voted out at this point ..

On the comments others have made regarding who is more "deserving" of winning, those with some money vs those with not so much .. Gervase is not a pauper himself .. Tyson may not be filthy rich but he was a pro cyclist and owns his own business .. at any rate, it's Outwit, Outlast and Outplay .. I personally think Tina was one of the worst players in Survivor history .. yet she won Australia ..

I'd like to see a surprise tribal at one of these challenges when you have people take food instead of compete, with those that ate ineligible to vote, but vulnerable to be voted out... plus if they had an idol it would have to be in their possession to be used, that would shake up the confidence in future shows of taking food instead of competing.

While I know Tyson was just playing it safe, he had to believe there was a pretty good chance of getting voted out in order to give up the Idol .. and his dumping all the junk out in his bag was pretty funny .. "It's in here somewhere" .. eek.gif

At this point in the game I guess paranoia is rampant, that might have been a huge mistake by Tyson if his alliance didn't know about the idol like it has been inferred ... trust has been broken.

I think it was a big mistake, but he had to have had good reasons .. Hayden and Caleb had turned and Tyson knew it .. as well, I'm sure Tyson wondered about Ciera since she turned on her own Mom .. yet, Ciera held true to her word .. Ciera scored some real loyalty point with her move, but I don't think it's going to do her any good .. Hayden based on the preview looks like he's going to throw down against Tyson, which likely means nothing since the preview is always just a tease ..

Ciera has become a contender .. if she lasts till Final 3, she'll have the vote from her Mom and Tina, assuming one does not get back in the game .. if Laura gets back in the game, Ciera will then gain a big boost that could tilt the game .. if Laura ends up on the Jury, we know she'll vote for Ciera at the final .. if Tina goes to Jury, after Laura helped her do the puzzle, Tina will vote for Ciera or Laura and who knows about Aras / Vytas .. there are any number of outcomes here, which is great at this point, IMO ..

I'd say Tysons best move is to try and take Hayden and Katie to the Final and he's a lock to win .. But at this point, Redemption is the wildcard ..

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in this Season, Redemption is adding a great twist to the game ..

And this has shaped up to be one of the best seasons in a while ..

It is a good season, I just wish they would throw in a real opening for a change...

I never said they could not be on the show, but I don't want someone who has millions of dollars to win another million, I would rather see someone win that the money would benefit them and their family, not add another million into the already millions they have.

+$1,000,000

Maybe if Monica won it they would donate it to a charity.

that certainly would be a nice gesture -- even if they donated only half of it. but i don't see that happening.

I would like to see a Laura v Monica challenge at Redemption Island to be the one to get back into the game. With the right challenge it would be epic!

On Survivor you don't win a million dollars you largely earn it. And if you think a (only one) millionaire can't improve their life with another you're being silly. :)

This is the same sentiment as The Amazing Race. People are getting tired of watching highly paid professionals compete in a reality TV show. Russel Hans joined Survivor because he thought it would be easy - something he'll do because he's got nothing else to do. He left crying after earning the title of worst villain ever. Did he really need to be on the show? I guess so since it brought in tons of ratings. At least they haven't cast Rob and Amber's kid yet!

But when it comes down to it, if I want to watch millionaires compete, I'll go watch sports. If I want to watch hard-luck people compete for their future livelihood... well it used to be Survivor, and it used to be TAR. Hell, I loved the season of The Apprentice with people who were looking for jobs.

You think winning improves one's life? look at Todd Herzog .... by some of the definitions the last page or so, Survivor should only go after the homeless for contestants as they really "need it"...

It certainly can improve someones life. People that have been on the show going on to other well paying careers.

Each time a winner is crowned, that completes a season. So, there are normally two seasons each year. One starts in September or October and the next one in January or February.

It would have to be a "hang by one arm while solving a puzzle with the other" challenge!

And every pro team should only pay minimum wage and hire those in poverty. Each week replacing the roster since they had a job last week... I thought the mantra was outwit, outplay, outlast not be poor.

Huge spolier in the CBS promo for Survivor during the Pats game. Better be careful watching TAR tonight.

Contestants are not chosen based on financial criteria ... if you happen to have money (however you define it) .. it's incidental to the selection process .. myself, as a fan from day One .. I'd be fine with a season of Celebrity Millionaire Survivor .. in fact, it might be pretty good TV ... tongue.gif

Better yet, take the entire Kartrashian crew out to an island and leave them there.

Hopefully they would be sinkers, not floaters...
