Generally speaking yes, but if you have too much ambient light, well then a projector isn't going to be the best thing in the world. Projectors do better in darker rooms.

Alright well you guys are pretty much selling me on the Benq. I guess my major worry is that 2000 lumens will get washed out. I plan to put blackout curtains up over living room windows but light will still be in room somewhat from dining room ( around a corner) and small front door windows. The Pro8300 is really more of a business projector, though technically I guess you can call it a crossover. The Benq w1070 and Pro8200 are about the same brightness, in ECO mode the Benq might be slightly brighter, but they are basically the same.
There is nothing that I know of that can beat the w1070 in features or overall PQ for under $1000 in its own price range. I think to beat it, you'd need to go to about $1800 in the new market, or about $1300 in the used. Of course when I say BEAT IT, I mean only in certain areas, because as always, different projectors have different strengths and weaknesses, even more expensive ones.
