I got this one from Best Buy (note, weblink shows Canadian price). This one allows you to connect 3 ethernet cables (eg: receiver, bluray, tv... but note each connection has a different "priority"). It also has a electrical pass thru, which is nice.

Does the 7008 require an external wireless adapter for your router or is it ethernet only?

D&M models can use a wireless router set up in "Bridge" mode to wirelessly connect to the home's main wifi router.

Is there any way to do all channel stereo on the sr5008
post #489 of 2094
Yes.

Press and hold the Music button. Select "MULTI CH STEREO"

See pages 108 & 113 of the owners manual.

Thank you

Also for anyone looking for the wireless option.
The Asus wireless bridge worked for me.

I have a 5008. I notice that the volume will dip every 20 minutes or so for only a few seconds. I only have it running at 40 as well. Is my marantz defective?
On all sources?
Yeah when using HDMI and through my plex smart tv with optical audio back to receiver
post #495 of 2094
What price have people been able to get the 7008 for (discounted from list)

Guys,

Is there any USB WiFi dongle that will work with our SR-7008?
Thanks smile.gif
Although not designed for a WiFi dongle, there was a report awhile back that one did work intermittently, so you can give it a try.

I used a wireless bridge that connects via ethernet and it worked fine.
I know it isn't a USB dongle. But i just connected it to my laptop so it would connect to my routher then plugged it into the receiver and it is working flawlessly.

Does the SR7008 have any internal fans? Any issues with noise?

Can anyone tell me if the 7008 will show folders and audio files on a network share or DLNA server in alphabetical order (or under what circumstances it shows them out of order)? The manual says it may not, but does have any other helpful information. I'd like to avoid having to use separate HTPC or other device to play music.

Thanks!

I have the 6008 but I don't think the 7008 would be any different. Yes, it shows artist folders in alphabetical order, album folders with the artist folder in alphabetical order. The songs within the album folder are shown in the order that they in the album, not alphabetical.
Now, when I use the Marantz Android app, it shows the songs within the album in alphabetical order.

I would think it depends on how you have the file names. No track numbers and it will sort alphabetically. For instance I use the following naming convention to ensure proper order...
Billy Bragg - Don't Try This At Home - 01 - Accident Waiting To Happen
Billy Bragg - Don't Try This At Home - 02 - Moving The Goal Posts

and so on... no numbers would put them in a different order depending on the song title.
Yes, all my songs titles begin with a number.

Folks,

I am a newbie and just purchased Rotel RMB-1095 and Rotel RMB-1066 recently. I like the Marantz range for their clean look plus quality sound features. With the amps that I already have, do I need a heavy duty AVR like the SR7008? OR will I be OK with the SR 5008/6008 series with the amps that I have bought? Any other options for AVR will be appreciated.

Thanks

As far as power goes, yes you would be fine. The audio quality of the 7008 would be much superior to the 5008 or 6008.

Thanks lulimet and Hawkboy. I ordered the 7008 from AVS today. Looking forward to hearing it!

Nice! I am sure you will love it. They are great receivers.

Anyone have any comments? Reason I ask is that my current HK flagship AVR from a few years ago started giving me an issue with the video board fan.
I have owned the SR7008 for a month, and have no noise issues Great addition:)
