Due to not being able to get Program guide from QAM Clear channels, We decided to continue just to focus on OTA support, as we originally intended to do.
Links to QAM firmware removed
I also feel bad for the few that may have bought this box for its added cable support. I do recall someone posting that the HWx is a more stable product. If it continues to improve its OTA performance this could really give other boxes a run for their (much more) money.
My little cable company (#16 I think) does cross state lines, so it needs to behave. That, plus the dish explosion and lack of OTA, keeps them trying harder. Yes, they are greedy and contract out their support a lot, but they don't pretend clear QAM doesn't exist. And, like most cable companies, they are a monopoly in my area. I sent the FCC a complaint a few years ago about the lack of PSIP data but never heard back.
There will be more cable systems going 100% scrambled in the future. I can't predict a timeline. One day at a time. I'm living with a Sony DHG without the ability to set the clock already. I have four of them.
For cable, probably the M6620N (TViX) is the most stable. Then there is the Amulet 458, CM7400 and its replacement, and for really basic HD there is the BV-980H. But anyone who wants it all the HTPC can give you quite a lot. But it's a hobby also.
There was a great full moon last night. You couldn't see it in NY or Houston since TWC had it blacked out. [joke from Letterman]
