Pretty brutal.

I don't think Capcom is going to survive this generational shift. Not as the company we knew and loved. The transition to HD -lite and now real-HD gen is not going smoothly for them.

With that coming from Digital Foundry I'm surprised it was not worse. I'm not even going to count this "review" since they glossed over the game and only focused on the technical merits and Lack of them at that according to the reviewer.

I just watched a a video that showed the framerate also. I wan't even really looking at the framerate too much, I was just amazed at how many zombies were on screen at one time. eek.gif I've never seen so many zombies on screen before. That was a crazy number.

I don’t know, averaging 20-22FPS is pretty much unplayable. There’s screens shots from DF of it dipping all the way into the teens and one at 10FPS. 20-22 for GTA5 was considered “bad” at that games lower bound.

I do realize performance (or even IQ) doesn’t always make the game, but in this case it will effect gameplay. 10-15FPS is a slideshow…

Then there’s the whole question of why this is even happening on a brand new $500 box. Ryse might have it’s own more minor issues, but it’s showing off lots of action and enemies with nowhere near this dreadful performance. Heck, the 360’s DR2 run on a native 720 TV/Monitor both looks and plays better from what I’ve seen.

Except DR2 did not have near the amount of Zombies on the screen. What I find interesting was the amount of other positive feedback from others that have played the game on the tour. In 9 days I'll have my hands on it and get to play it and decide for myself.

I was super excited to get this game at launch...

But the more videos I see the more I don't want to buy it. Am I the only one that thinks this game looks amazingly easy. Anytime I have seen a swarm of zombies on someone it looks as though they just hit some buttons a few times and are in the clear. Never seen anyone taken down.

It looks like one of those games you can maybe play for a day, have fun, and be done with it.

I will no longer be buying it at launch!

I heard some discussion about it on a very recent joystiq podcast. They seemed to think that the zombies are more of an inconvience than a serious threat. In other words, the zombies aren't supposed to be a huge threat like Dying Light or something like that. You have missions and objectives that you have to do, and the zombies are an inconvience that gets in your way.

DR has never been about the zombies as a threat, unless you found yourself in trouble with low health and no health items around and being swarmed. It’s always been about finding interesting, fun, and maniacal ways to go about a bloodbath while completing missions. The zombies in DR are what the physics and pedestrians are in other open world games. Toys to play with. They’re there to slow you down, or distract you; but aren’t much of a real threat unless you find yourself in a bad situation.

The combat has always been centered around the “psychos” and in DR2 a evolved, more dangerous zombie type that appears later in the game.

Yup, from one of the co-op videos I saw a few days ago, it looks like there are an ABSURD amount of combo weapons and vehicles to play around with (over 100 i think). There also seems to be some new leveling up RPG mechanics in there too. Still not sure if I will pick this up day 1, gonna wait for some reviews to roll in. I must say though, the framerate dips sub 20 FPS is pretty disappointing, and I am in no way a FPS nazi.

Capcom, I hate you.

Treat Megaman as if it is a crap franchise and cancel every game in development, but then do this...

Now use that engine to make Megaman Legends 3 already.!

The zombies aren't supposed to be a threat. This isn't Resident Evil here. The point of the game is the many varied and interesting ways you can use to take out hordes of zombies at once. It's like Dynasty Warriors with Zombies.

This game is amazing. Unbelievable launch title and I'm surprised no one here is talking about it!

I tried it for around 15 minutes on Friday and had to stop. It was making me feel too queasy. Haven't gone back to play it again yet. I spent $90 on the Digital Download so I need to play it some time.

I did like what I saw but the camera mechanics were making me feel like crap. I was sick on Friday so I hope that is the reason it was making me feel that way.

I will sell my copy for $40 if anyone wants it. Played twice.

I also have BF4 and Forza for sale.

Im enjoying it, I think Im on Chapter 2 or 3.

I wish I could change my difficulty setting,  I picked the one with a time limit, should have gone for Completion as I like to mess around.   Not sure how much time I have, its not like old game, but I know its not infinite.

Anyone know if you can change difficulty?  I saw an option that says "game reset", not sure what that does...anyone?

Not sure if you can do that on the fly. I chose casual. I thought those options at the beginning only made it pair you with like minded folks l

Anyone having a problem hearing the people you are supposed to talk to on side quests.   The zombies surrounding us are so loud I can barley hear what the person giving me the mission is saying.

I only have a sound bar, so I have settings on xbox to stereo.  Not sure if its an xbox issue in the way it is sending/decoding the signal, or if its a game issue.

I've been playing this (no kids around) and Forza (kids present) most of the time. I am still at the mission where you have to build the first combo car and drive to the next waypoint. As an FYI, I tried this with smartglass and there is a little bit of extra content. I usually just left it on the map; It will periodically ring with a phone call or text message. It is much faster than the smartglass on 360.

I have experienced the difficulty understanding what was said. I end up going to the todo list to figure out what to do.

FD: I work at MS on xbox.

If the sound bar accepts 5.1 or 7.1 pcm or DTS then use that. It will be better than using stereo output. I know the two SOny sounds bars I have made a big difference in the 360 with using multichannel input instead of stereo when playing games. I would expect it to be the same way with the XBOne.

I have an ENERGY POWER BAR ELITE.   It says it has --

"The built-in Dolby Digital Decoder allows the soundbar to automatically reproduce detailed, high-quality sound no matter what format of sound is coming from the TV's output."
Now I know its not 5.1 or 7.1 so should I use DTS??

I have it hooked up to my TV through optical cable.

I dont know much about Audio.

Hmm.. according to the webpage it only decodes dolby Digital. I've never had a receiver/soundbar that didn't do both DD and DTS. So I guess if it can't decode DTS then I guess you'll have to stick with a stereo input.

It sounds like it's designed for viewing TV content from STBs. Which would only be in Dolby Digital. At least that's what it seemed like when I skimmed the manual.

Thanks for taking the time and looking that up,  I didnt know what to make of it when I read it.

I notice the 8500 has an option for DTS Neo 2.5 available as well as stereo.   Wondering if that would be a better output for my soundbar, guess I could try it and see.  Sounds like dts neo is some kind of software that simulates 5.1 from a 2 channel input?
Right now Im using PCM

Maybe i Was looking at the wrong model. The one I looked at only mentioned dd. And some of the reviews specifically said it did not accept DTS. But if you have a DTS sound field option, that normally means it can accept DTS. It would just be weird to have a DTS sound field choice and not take DTS for an input.

I am really enjoying this game. Love the graphics, love the weapon combos, and the leveling up system. One thing that bothers me is that there are so many zombies (which is really impressive) but you never really have any time to take a breather and check your inventory/items, and check things out. Hitting the button will pause the game, but holding the bumper to see what items you have, etc. does not.

Overall, soooo glad I picked this up as it is addictive.

Any way to fast travel to another location?
