I had an onkyo 707 and had what many had back then which was the infamous sound failure. Onkyo fixed once right before the 2 year mark. They chose to do a cheap fix which was to "reflow the circuitry" instead of doing what the better fix is and replace the hdmi board. 1 month later once again no sound from the 707, and even though it was clear it was a defectively made product considering the forums were flooded with sound failures for that whole line Onkyo chose not to fix it since it was 1 month out of warranty the second time. Then like a complete moron to replace the 707 I go and buy a 709 knowing against my better judgement that I shouldn't. And guess what 1 year and 9 months later the same sound failure has come back which is no picture of speakers on the receiver screen as if cables are not connected. What a piece of garbage company. Clearly continuously using crappy hdmi boards. Cheap products made by a company that is living on its last legs based on a reputation it gained from before their goal was to cheaply stuff as much technology into a box for the cheapest price possible. I really hope for the good of innocent customers this company goes bankrupt. It surely deserves it. I'm telling you this time. I learned my lesson from last. Denon is whats in my bedroom and Denon will replace this garbage receiver in my living room. Good luck to all that continue to support this brand. If you have from the x07 line to present and it hasn't crapped out yet, trust me there's a good chance it's coming. These Onkyo products are made fail.
