USB > SPDIF Transport

I think this is considered a transport, if not, i apologize for posting in the wrong forum.

I'm currently using a M2tech hiface (original). I just pulled the trigger on a hiface two, but i'm having second thoughts after reading up on the Musical Fidelity V-Link 192.

Are they comparable? If all things are equal, the hiface is a better choice for me as I already have a DIY cable in place to use a switched 5v power supply instead of the USB power and the hiface takes up less room in my equipment stand. Obviously, these are secondary concerns... if the Vlink is a better unit, I can make a new cable and make room.

I use primarily FLAC and ALAC files. I have a small collection of 24/96, 24/176, 24/192 albums. If either can do DSD over PCM (DoP), thats a bonus (though, i'm not sure my integra processor will accept DSD on the SPDIF, possibly only HDMI).

Thoughts?

Why not just send audio via HDMI from your computer? There won't be much difference from any device you mentioned.

my understanding is that the HDMI interface has a lot of "jitter."

AFAIK, there are no documented instances of anybody ever hearing that jitter in a reliable listening test. I've looked! Jitter is sort of like audio's boogey man.

Also, HDMI interfaces are a rapidly evolving technology and every generation of AVR is very likely to have newer chips and improved performance. We had some AVRs with questionable measurements back in the last decade, but I've seen zero lab test data for equipment from this decade.
