Troubleshooting sound experience for rear speakers

I have my rear left and rear right speakers set up on either side of the couch. The couch is 107" long, and if I sit on either side of the couch I do not hear that "surround sound" effect I just hear the sound from the one speaker closest to my ear.

I feel like I should still hear both speakers just fine. I am using a Pioneer SP-BS22 rear speakers, anyway I can fine tune the volume for these? Or troubleshoot what the issue is?

Trying to have a the full surround sound experience!

My AVR is a Denon 1913. Thanks for tips

Raise the surround speakers up so that the tweeters are dramatically above ear level. Then run another Audyssey calibration.

Get an ottoman and lay in the middle

As long as you consistently lay on the same end of the couch there's no reason why you can't adjust your system to account for the imbalance. If you're constantly switching which end of the couch you lay on, then it's going to be pretty hard to do.

scoot your couch over where one of the sides is now in the middle of the speakers.
