It would be nice if they've got it completely planned out, as it now seems - based on the numbers - they will be able to run it as long as they and Showtime want it to.

It is true that the Masters of Sex showrunners have played fast and loose with the actual facts of the real Masters and Johnson's work and relationship. Once I forgave them for that, got onboard with the story being told on the screen, and stopped worrying about its factual inaccuracies, I fell in love with the show. I'm still in love with it. smile.gif

I was especially impressed with Lizzy Caplan as I've previously only seen her in much lighter fare, if there's any awards buzz surrounding this show she has to be amongst those being mentioned. That's not to say there wasn't a lot of great performances, Allison Janney and Caitlin FitzGerald were particularly good as the wives of intensely complicated men.

Well, she wasn't given any nods from the Golden Globes. Sheen did get a nomination, however. Maybe the Emmys will show Lizzy some love, although they tend to be an even tougher crowd.

Although I refuse to take seriously awards like the Golden Globes and Emmys I thought it was odd that Lizzy Caplan wasn't nominated. She was simply brilliant in the first season of Masters of Sex. I think I have said before but risk repeating myself when I say that the show's ensemble cast has been great. Sheen and Caplan were wonderful, of course but I think that Beau Bridges and Allison Janney both did some of the finest work in their long and distinguished careers. Their scenes together nearly broke my heart. Masters of Sex is often funny but Barton and Vivian's relationship is a tragedy.

Lizzy stole the show. I said all season that I didn't see one bad episode. Best show on TV now.

'Breaking Bad's' Betsy Brandt Joins Showtime's 'Masters of Sex' (Exclusive)
by Lesley Goldberg / 03-18-2014 / hollywoodreporter.com

Betsy Brandt has boarded the second season of the Showtime drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Brandt will recur and play Barbara, new secretary to Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen). She fills the role previously held by Margo Martindale's Miss Horchow, who guest-starred in the series premiere, and Caitlin Fitzgerald's Libby, who temporarily filled in as his secretary in season one.

The role marks Brandt's first gig after wrapping NBC's low-rated freshman comedy The Michael J. Fox Show, where she co-starred as Fox's wife. The series, which was pulled from the network's schedule with seven unaired episodes to go, has yet to be rescheduled. Worth noting: Showtime has also booked Brandt's Michael J. Fox co-star Wendell Pierce to guest-star in the second season of drama Ray Donovan.

Repped by Talent Works and Patty Woo Management, Brandt's credits also include Magic Mike.

Brandt joins Akeelah and the Bee's Keke Palmer, who also booked a recurring role on season two of Masters.

The addition of Betsy Brandt to the Masters of Sex cast is good news indeed. I just finished rewatching the final season of Breaking Bad and admired Brandt's performances as I admired so much else about the show.

Wholeheartedly agree. I always thought she did a great job, but the last season really gave her a chance to shine. I tried watching MJF show, but stopped after 2-3 episodes. No fault of hers, it just wasn't a good show, imo.
