stu, yes, the picture looks much better to me when watching cable through the 103D. I didn't really compare back and forth, but I could just tell right off the picture was what I consider to be a lot better. But of course the 103 would have done the same thing as far as that.... I am still thinking I wasted money getting the D, but who knows, I may get darbee use at some point.
How much were the FD's when they came out? .Incredible how you guys in the US think that is expensive rotfl.
In the UK on average a NIB 500M was US 4600 (i paid something very similar with mine back in July because it was only a matter of hours old and had been on a wall in a darkened room since new, showroom condition with a year warranty left. I would pay it again now within a blink of an eye if i had to) ... The 500A's were US 5800 NIB. And of course there were the 60 inchers after these.
We pay over the top for everything here, so if that 101 had been lightly used i would have scoffed at that asking price being in the UK as peanuts in comparison.
Thanks for the opinions of the broadcast through the OPPO's processing - i would have replied earlier but have been knocked out quite literally this last 48 hours with some sort of crazy winter stomach flu bug. And not even me could care less about my Pioneer Kuro feeling like that lol
Seems like i do want it's processing as i can't afford the processing inside a Lumagen (imagine the accuracy of the 500M and the Lumagen together) the KRP is scarily good as it is with regards to accuracy, colour/gamma etc. Maybe one day.
But the Oppo103 as i suspected does broadcast upscaling very well indeed
