Any one you who are upset at sending your unit in for repairs... go check out the Epson 5030UB thread. Only in the last 24 hours 3 owners have posted about convergence or lens issues that, by the standards in this 131Xe thread, would warrant a factory repair/replacement.
BTW the much higher-end, highly touted 5030ub costs four times
as much as the 131xe.
Oh yeah, they're also not happy with the color settings memory...
Not that it excuses any issues with some 131's, but just think about how you'd feel if you'd spent two grand more and had to do the same!
On topic - in his "first look" review Art replied to my comment where I copied the settings most often recommended in this thread (don't know who originally posted them, but thanks!).
For "brilliant color" "our" settings have a '1', and Art says "Mike" set BC at 10 because "this is more of a family room projector than dedicated theater".
Sounds like this could have a lot to do with the issues he has with the 131's color accuracy, but I'm not sure exactly what "brilliant color" actually does.
I'll have to fiddle with the BC setting on mine tonight to see with my own eyes, but I'd hope that when it comes time for the "full" review "Mike" tries calibrating it for optimum color, contrast, gray scale etc rather than pumping up the colors for "sunny day living room" mode only and concluding that the 131's colors aren't realistic/accurate..
