Can I get away with a 52" Ceiling fan in a 10x11.3 room?

I know this is slightly off topic but AVS is filled with DIY folks so thought I'd ask. I want to put a bigger fan in this bedroom while it's small this particular room is the hottest in our home. It is always facing the sun and here in California it gets extremely muggy with any bit of AV equipment running. I have looked at sizing charts and they all recommend at least a10x12 room for a 52" sized fan.

Do you guys think I can get away with it or could I burn out my fan, or get some weird humming noise from too small an area? FWIW my current standalone fan is pretty noisy in itself

Cheers

I went ahead and pulled the trigger, got it all up and running yesterday it's quiet as a mouse. Thanks for the input was leaning that way and you convinced me to go for it. cool.gif

Glad to hear it. Our living room has one, but it's so loud it gives me a headache after a few minutes. I'll get around to it, eventually . . . eek.gif
