And as for the software for the mx-850, see remote central and use NXG NX-RM820 remote software, same remote different badge:
Re: URC Lighting by Lutron
Hey all. First post on AVS!
I recently acquired a MX-780 and the software from my long time dealer. I've got everything programmed just how I like it except the lighting!
I understand that the MX-780 can directly communicate with URC Lighting by Lutron, correct? I purchased the simple switch (no dimmer) MRFA-S6AM-URC-WH and have installed it. Now how do I get the switch talking with my MX-780? I have added the icon and URC Light codes to my remote but the remote does not control the light switch still.
I selected "random" for my "lighting address" when adding the codes to my remote. Is there a channel or something on the physical switch itself I need to set to get these guys talking? Also, on "RF Control" section for programming, what do I set this to? I'm using an MRF-350 RF base station but I don't need the base station to convert my code to IR to send to my RF lightswitch!
Alright, I found some help on another forum.
To sync your URC Remote and the URC Lighting by Lutron switch, press and hold the "On" button for the Lighting controls on the remote and the light switch for approx. 8 seconds, or until the light on the wall switch starts blinking.
Apparently some of the remotes need to have the lighting code set in a certain range, the 810 for example must be between 401 and 420. I set my 780 at 340.
I'm trying to upload my ccp file for you guys to see my set up but I need to make it a zip file, how do I do that?
Its of a mx-1200 and I have a "revert to current activity macro" that I'm having trouble with. I read that the true/false variable is not working with ccp right now so I changed it to an integer 0/1 variable for the If/then statements to work off of. Is there a way to make a revert to current activity macro without if/else statements?
If(Variable(watch tv ON, true)
Jump(watch TV/Main Menu)
If (Variable (Play xbox ON), True)
Jump(Play Xbox 360/Main Page)
If(variable watch PC ON), True)
Jump watch PC/page 1
Jump Devices/page 1
substitute the true for =1 since changed. Thanks for the help
I'm trying to decide between the 890 & 1200. The Media Installer said the reason he wouldn't go with the 1200 is he's seen some come back w/ touch screen problems over time. What would be the specific differences between the 890 & 1200 besides the touchscreen? Has anyone tried both? I will not be programming it so that's not going to be an issue when deciding between the two.
I will be watching mostly DirectTV w/ it and using DVR all the time. Does it show icons for favorite channels on the screen? I will also have an Epson projector in the room if that helps w/ the answer.
Thanks for the help.
Yes, they both can show favorite channels on the screen. I have the 1200 and love it. Only thing I would say about touch screen is that it is not as sensitive as an iphone or anything like that. Its costs as much as one but has a much cheaper touch screen. Still works well, and I would go with it over hard buttons just because of the "wow" factor having a touch screen remote, but they could of done better. I had a 980, which is kinda like the 890 but older, and the touch screen is a nice upgrade.
First off I want to thank you for starting this thread and sharing your example CCP file. I'm going to have to give that a shot soon, since I'm getting frustrated trying to do this on my own. I picked up a MX-780 and MRF-260. I'm coming from a Harmony which is rather easy to set up.
I'm confused by the button setup in CCP. I've created my components selecting the IR codes, yet it defaults a set of buttons that don't even include some of the most important ones, like the power buttons. But to add the button they don't provide you with a list of codes selected for that device. You have to create a new button and then edit the macro. But even in the macro you have to search through all of model numbers that you just did to create the device. It doesn't make sense.
