You will be getting 768kbs up with 10meg down. I also disagree with the 25meg download limit. I am 2300 feet from the CO where I live in Summerlin and 100mbits down will be available with VDSL2. For the record I am happy with my 10meg down. My big issue is the 2 HD feeds. That of course can be at least doubled with VDSL2 since each HD feed requires 8 mbits. My home by the way has a 42meg main feed with the pair at my NID.

I got my prism installed today. It is awesome. But the sales lady told me I could get 10 up and 10 down I got 10 down and 768 up. The tech was great he called and talked to the office on speaker phone and asked it they could do anything they tried but the system is set up for 768 period. They said even if Iwent with a commercial account I would only get 25 mbps down and 2 up. Still happy with the TV.
Carriage of local channels is up to the provider 100%. KEEN LD 17 and KTUD CA 25 are both LPTVs and the both pay a ton to get the atlanta shot callers of COX to carry them COX puts a huge bit on the locals to get carried. LPTVs have no support from the FCC rules about carriage execpt in small rural areas where no full power exist. Cox would have to drop something in order to carry the locals. That is per COX they say they have no capacity. Prism says they will add more locals. They know to get customers you need to be part of the local community. Cox has been lossing customers to prism at a awesome rate. While I was at prism doing a test drive I saw 3 people order prism who where going to drop cox. The tech connected his meter and said I could get up to 42 mbps if they offered it. Maybe in the furture!

That 42 meg is your total pipe that is partioned for your HD feeds, SD feeds, and your internet. Buffering is added in. I have 42 meg as well. The 768kb up should not be a major issue for you. I use VPN to work from home and hopefully when VDSL2 comes in my upload and sync with my office will improve. Let me know how things go.

If a provider sold me on 10Mbit upload and I took a day off work to sit home for an install only to find out they lied and I would only get 768k, I would tell them to take a hike and then take the rest of my day to post on the Internet warning others not to fall for the same scam.

I started out that way with the prism guy, but he was really nice. I wanted the tv anyway. And he spent alot of time researching my options for faster upload. Then he connected it up just so I could try it. I decided once it was in to leave it on . I guess this guy was so nice and helpful I didn't have the heart to yank it. I mean when he told me he could only get less than 1 mbps. I let him have it. But he was really cool so I kept it. I guess that says alot about the installer. The COX people who came were always independent contractors and looked a little scummy and came thier own cars. The Prism guy was dressed up and came in a centurylink van.

I have to admit that CenturyLink reps are notorious for giving out wrong information. It's not a scam but total stupidity. Maybe Joey from CenturyLink would like to comment. If you don't have Prism then your DSL will in fact support both higher download speeds and upload speeds. It seems the reps don't understand that Prism and Pure are two separate products. Getting back to the techs, they do try. Not all of them have the expertise on Prism which is to bad but I was not about to throw away a product that I know is superior to Cox. And, I am saving $70 per month / $840 dollars per year by not using Cox. I had them for 15 years and was no longer going to pay them their outrages fees. You want to know a scam? Consider Cox's Ultimate tier that costs $100 per month with the knowledge that you are paying for UP TO 54 meg down. Ain't going to happen over 90 percent of the time. Maybe to their local hub but that's it. I had it for six months and nearly put their Ultimate modem into a compactor and I had to pay for that. What a crock. My monthly is now $150 per month, not $223 like it was. Yup, I only get 768k upload, but my business and personal use of the internet does not require high upload speeds. The important think for everyone is to know what questions to ask. If Joey from CenturyLink is reading this then you need to make sure that your reps know what they are selling. Giving false information even unwittingly constitutes false advertising. You have a good product. Don't make it fail by having customer reps screw potential customers. My bottom line is I like Prism. The picture is superior. It has whole house DVR which will get better with a firmware upgrade. When VDSL2 comes to Vegas, Cox will have a major battle on their hands. The only way CenturyLink will lose out is by their own stupidity, not the technology.

Now, they are simply going to use Sprint's network for their service instead of creating a new network.

For 3G yeah, but what about the 700MHz spectrum they own? Cox is going to ditch their plans there as well and resell the spectrum to someone else (Sprint)?

How is the Internet speed with Prism when say, 2 TVs are also running an HD feed? I work from home and am on the internet and have the TV on as well and I want to make sure I won't have super slow dial-up speeds with the service. Thanks for any info from Prism customers.
There is no impact to the internet when you watch HD. The DSL and the HD feeds are given fixed slices so watching Prism and streaming video or audio will not effect each other. Your download will be fixed at 10 meg down ( I average about 9) and the upload is a shameful 768kb but unless you require a large upload speed it shouldn't bother you. I have had Prism since January and for the most part I'm satisfied.

KLSV Las Vegas

JTV, Jewelry Televsion, is being simulcast on KLSV 50.1 and 50.2. Infomercials is on 50.3 Perhaps KLSV will be adding a new service soon and is in a testing stage.

Las Vegas would be fortunate to have MeTV, Antenna TV, and Bounce TV added to our over-the-air reception.

Vegggas, do you know if Cox Vegas is 100% digital? TiVo says their new Premiere Q would possibly be available through retail if they get a waiver from the FCC saying its OK if they don't have any analog tuners.

They have been issuing digital only (no analog tuner) STB's for many years, so I would guess that anything you could order would be digital. Cable card required for decryption and package ordering, of course.

Does anyone know if you can get TV packages from Prism without having to get internet and phone also? On their website, it only lists the higher end TV packages with phone and internet. I don't want them. I'll stick with COX for internet, as the speeds with Prism do not suit my needs.
You don't need to bundle and you can get Prism separately.

THIS TV

Cox Cable has finally added THIS TV to the basic channel lineup on QAM channel 33.2 (same as the over-the-air display channel from KVCW).

LPTV transition

The FCC has set new rules for the digital transition of the remaining analog LPTV broadcasters. http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Rele...C-11-110A1.pdf

Rules summary: http://www.rabbitears.info/blog/inde...ule-Set-by-FCC

Who will be the last Las Vegas analog LPTV station?

Whats will all the bass on KLVX 10.1? Its a lot of nonsense low frequencies that muddy up the sound. Every time I watch this channel, I have to turn off the subwoofer. Its not like they play rap songs, Barry White songs or Don Cornelius and thats a good thing.

Speaking of bottom ends, whats all the skin on ?P>FO9G 124-16
What the heck is that channel? I really like it but can not understand a damn thing!

KLVD-23

Daystar Las Vegas affiliate KLVD analog 23 flashcut sometime over the weekend, and is now on digital rf and display 23.1 with the Daystar network feed. No sub-channels.

Cox Cable HD Update...

It has been quite a while since Vegggas passed along any info regarding HD additions or technical improvements coming from Cox. Cox Trio? Whole-home DVR? Switched Digital Video? New channels?

Any updated info?

Not spending too much time in Vegas lately, but as far as I know, Trio with Whole Home DVR's and standalone units have been available in Las Vegas for a while and the new Cisco equipment that tunes 1GHz gets the new HD channels. Off the top of my head, I think they are Outdoor Network HD, DIY HD, Hub HD, Cooking Channel HD and SWRVZ HD in the plus pack.

KLSV 50.1

So what gives? KLSV 50.1 is airing LATV this morning, the same as seen on KLAS 8.2. Could LATV being making a permanent move to KLSV and allowing room on KLAS for Antenna TV or MeTV?

Since Antenna TV and Me TV are not Spanish language or infomercial channels, my guess is probably not.

A few weeks ago, KLAS was listed as an up-coming affiliate of MeTV on the MeTV website. That notation was later taken down. I've also learned that the owner of KLSV is also a part owner of LATV. An inquiry to KLAS has gone unanswered thus far.

Airing of LATV on KLSV 50.1 yesterday was brief. Later in the day, and yet this morning, it was replaced with color bars and a "ATT TOC Broadcast Operations Hollywood, CA" identifier.

Edit: An e-mail from KLAS this morning stated "At this time, LATV will remain on 8.2 or Cox Cable Channel 129".
Wednesday evening at 10:30 pm, the color bars yielded to four and a half hours of Universal, a Hispanic religious netlet. This was aired without audio.

Also WGN HD.

I got that flyer, too. It also said all the HD channels are moving to channel numbers above 1000. For example, NBC HD is moving from 703 to 1003, and HBO HD is moving from 800 to 1200.

Anyone know why the channel number shift? Was it just running out of 700's, since they were up to 793 (but there were several gaps in the 700's)? Or was it something else? Hopefully not in preparation for switched digital video (SDV).

I haven't heard anything about COX LV going to SDV. I hope that is not going to happen, since it would be a pain with my Ceton InfiniTV DVR needing tuning adapters.

If I had to take a guess about why the change to the 1000's I would say that it lets cox extend the whole SD channel number+some arbitrary group of numbers to the digital cable channels. It seems that they weren't thinking there would be this many HD channels when they were figuring out where to put them way back when. Also the digital cable HD channels are a little messy right now and it would make them somewhat easier to find. And like you mentioned I think they were starting to run out of room in the upper 700's for more HD channels for digital cable subscribers which might explain why it seems like they haven't added any more of those channels in a while.

Was the flyer you received in regards to new HD channels anymore specific then late August?
Yes, the flyer is specific:

"Starting August 9, 2011, your HD channels are moving from the 700s to the 1000s"

"New HD Channels launching 8/30/11"

Strangely, I see that the 1000s channels are already active right now. So I wonder what is going to happen on August 9. Maybe the 700s channels will disappear and/or change to other channels?
