Las Vegas, NV - HDTV - Page 287

I just looked through the guide and it would appear that Turner Classic Movies HD has been added and up and running on channel 1040.

Hello there. I am a recent "cable-cutter" and am sooooo happy about it. I live in the NW area of Las Vegas and just said "good-riddens" to DirecTV.

I have an RCA ANT751 Outdoor HDTV Antenna right on the DirecTV mast on the side of my home. I have 3 TVs connected and am using the Dynex 4-Way Coaxial Cable Distribution Amplifier. All TVs are getting excellent reception... except for 1 channel.

PBS channel 10 comes in excellent on my master bedroom TV, but not at all on the other 2. My biggest concern is getting it in on the living room TV that has the Tivo connected to it. I have twin toddlers and since losing NickJR., PBS seems to be the best channel for kids shows.

I have no idea why I can't get channel 10 in on all TVs. I haven't tried switching the COAX cables that are plugged into the dist. amp., but I'm not sure if that will make a difference. Ideally, I'd like to get channel 10 on all the TVs.

Is the problem the Dynex? Is there a better, more powerful distribution amp that I should be using?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. There's not very many people who know about this technology.

Thank you.

Channels 28,30,31 this is all the same guy MAKCO BROADCASTING running 3 channels of SON LIFE I checked he claims to be a CLASS CD station but he does not have an address in vegas or a phone number in vegas anybody know how to look at his public inspection file?
Mako Communications owns 26 stations around the country. http://www.rabbitears.info/search.ph...Communications The owner leases sub-channels to those willing to pay the fee for carriage. Son Life is likely only paying to be carried on KEGS 30.3, but is getting the bonus of being simulcast on KNBX 31.1, KVPX 28.1, and KEGS 30.1 (cover for the missing/departed Songs Of The Heart local service). It is further likely that Son Life will be replaced soon with another service on KVPX 28.1 and KNBX 31.1 when and if those providers set forward. Russia Today was spotted recently as a sub-channel on KEGS, but possibly only for a test.

Yes, but CD means that station might bump a station that actually broadcast and is located in Vegas in the public airwaves spectrum grab. Makco is just trying up tv channels for auction money.

Subs available

KHDF 19.2, 19.3 and 19.4 have for lease signs showing today on these new sub-channels. This yields 64 main and sub-channels for Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, K41IO digital 41.1 is again shooting blanks. Transmitter is on but not showing any programming.

As baseball season kicks off, I am hoping that Cox will feature the Padres in HD this year. I called Cox and the agent told me that there are no plans that she has heard of in adding the HD Padres games. Has anyone heard anything different? Maybe Vegggas can shed some light either way.

Correct me if I am wrong (I am not a sports fan) Padres games are shown on channel 96. Cox just launched a week or two ago an HD version of that channel on 1096. So if the games are shown on that channel then it will most likely be in HD.

Starting this season, the Padres will televise their games on the newly formed Fox Sports San Diego regional sports channel. I'm guessing that COX will no longer be showing Padre games unless they pick up FSSD.

I only have Cox cable line going to my TV and I can only pick up the local stations in HD. But with the addition of channel 96.2 and the Padres broadcast I ALMOST have 1 cable channel in HD...LOL.
Is there any other way I could pick up the other cable channels in HD without a cable box?
Is it possible to use DirecTV with a Cox cable modem? I'm sick of Cox raising prices every month and DSL is terrible.

My answer to your question is it depends on your TV. Some TVs have a cable card slot on them, if your tv does have one then you could just rent a cable card from cox and then you would get most of the other HD channels but no on demand or pay per view which probably does not matter because you do not have a cable box now. However cable card never really caught on as a standard so your TV may or may not have one.

Not sure what you mean by using Directv with a cable modem, but I have Directv and use Cox just for internet, if that helps.

KLSV 50.1 now takes their turn to shoot blanks. The Hispanic infomercial channel has been in black for over a day. Down the dial at KEGS 30.2, Almavision is showing a nice still frame with music indicating they have a DISH 500. It seems that every station, locally, that has aired Almavision in the past few years has had issues with their DISH subscription.

Las Vegas now has 64 main and sub-channels. But like a Chinese plate spinner act, keeping them all up and spinning out programming must not be an easy task.

AMG (17.6) Has lost almost all of it's volume. I'm in Henderson, near Black Mountain. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've seen programs in the past week that had extreme weak audio situations. Enginnering knows of the problem and is attempting to keep up with it.

In the continuing saga of who's in the black, K41IO is the current title holder. Their usual TBN Enlace programming is dark. KEGS 30.2 was in the black yesterday, but last night resumed programming. It was not their usual Almavision, but TBN Enlace however. Huh?
I'm in town for NAB, and this morning I am not seeing any signal from any of the Mako stations, plus K41IO-D has PMT issues, plus I can't manage to get a lock on 19 or 23.

Managed everything else from the hotel room here. EDIT: A north-facing hotel room, I've determined.

At 10:45 am, the MAKO cluster of stations, KVPX-28, KEGS-30, and KNBX-31 are all silent. No transmitter power. K41IO continues to have transmitter power but no programming. No reception issues in the NW Valley for KHDF-19 or KLVD-23. KHMP-18 is below the reception cliff for me the past several weeks, and KLVX-10 pixelates with a weaker reception strength than I'd prefer.

At 1:35 pm, LATV on KINC 15.2 is sitting in the black.

Expect two new sub-channels to appear on your Las Vegas screens this coming Monday.

Mako continues to tweak their KVPX-28, KEGS-30, and KNBX-31 programming. The color bars are the latest addition, or is it the DISH Network graphic. Great viewing options, both.

Edit 4pm 4/20/2012: In addition to the two new sub-channels mentioned above, Mako's KNBX today has put the psip in three new subs. KNBX 31.2, 31.3, and 31.4 are there. Only 31.4 has programming, without sound, and appears to be a public domain program demo loop. Could this be HOT (History Of Television), a very small diginet dedicated to public domain programming also carried on another out of market Mako station?

The current count of Las Vegas Valley main and sub-channels now stands at 67.

You mean this DISH Network graphic?

We have it on a Mako station in Phoenix, but only on two of the six subchannels that are supposed to have AlmaVision programming, so I'm thinking that the problem is AlmaVision. That should be KEGS-LD 24.2 in Vegas, I believe.

No. We did have that about 10 days ago, however the current DISH graphic is a freeze frame of satellite acquisition. For three days it has stated the process shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

KEEN 17.7

Lighting up today is KEEN's 17.7 sub-channel. This is one of two expected to launch on KEEN Monday. Can't say what the 17.7 will be, except I have an urge for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

If anyone, other than myself, is counting, this is the 68th main/sub-channel in Vegas. The other KEEN sub-channel expected to launch will be the 69th.

Can I buy my own cable box and get it authorized to use by Cox or do they make you rent their converter box?

Not a Scientific Atlanta or Cisco box purchased from ebay or anywhere else.

Your only option is a Retail CableCARD device:

Standalone DVRs
TiVo, Moxi (discontinued) and the upcoming Ceton Q, or perhaps the vaporware Whiteman Technology Delta DVR, addt'l info

PC CableCARD tuners for Windows Media Center
Ceton InfiniTV4, SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime, Hauppauge WinTV DCR-2650

Thanks for the response, I am just trying to lessen my bill and it seems foolish to pay hundreds a year for a box rental when you can buy the exact box.

You might try what you were thinkng about and putting your LR tv on the good spigot that feeds the bedroom. Actually trade connections and see if your good TV goes bad and the LR set starts working. You could also try putting a 3 way splitter in place of the distribution amp (DA). You may not need the amp. Another test would be to barrel the antenna input feeding the DA directly to one of the TVs that has issues with CH10. Could be your DA. Nothing you try here will break anything.
