The NBC Nonstop news sub-channels in California markets will be undergoing a format and name change this summer/fall. One name mentioned to be under consideration is BobTV. Published reports indicate that the daytime schedule may include off-network reruns of previous NBC programming. Perhaps similar to the USA cable network and their use of previous NBC programs. The evening schedule will continue to be news and lifestyle programming, but perhaps with less local flavor.

Will NBC push their current affiliates to jump on board? Would Las Vegas KSNV consider moving their Untamed Sports on 3.2 to a low power local station in favor of the renamed NBC Nonstop service?

Here's the scoop. http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/bob-tv-nbcu-rolls-local-news-channels-new-national-network-47351

It turns out that it is only on the Cox feed. They have placed COOL TV on to channel 5.3 when hooking up the cable directly to the TV.

Cox did something similar several years ago when they placed KMCC (32.1) on their QAM 8.2 cable channel, giving the effect that KMCC was somhow connected with KLAS 8.1. It was sandwiched between the KLAS CBS programming on 8.1 and the LATV service on 8.2, resulting in two 8.2 sub-channels for many viewers.

When things are running smoothly, KNBX 31.2 is a simulcast of KEEN 17.1. Well the programming on KEEN 17.1 has been absent much of the past couple of days, only returning today. With the absence of the 17.1 programming source, KNBX has been simulcasting KEEN 17.3's Worship video sub-channel this afternoon.

I seem to have a bit of blur (pixelization) on the hi-def channels when there is any fast motion. Any idea ifthere is a way to lessen this?

This is one of those few days of the month when I can receive KMCC digital 32, either from Black Mountain or Dolan Springs. What was noticed today is that KMCC has placed their Vasllovision network service on 32.2 as a sub-channel and is not currently airing a 32.1 channel. It would seem logical that KMCC is reserving 32.1 for the soon to launch MundoFox Hispanic network.

Several minutes after posting, Vasallovision was back on 32.1,. Perhaps I just received a digital reading error.

Thunderstorms have been rolling through Las Vegas for the past several days, with hit and miss results in some neighborhoods. A possible casualty of these storms may be the reception of KHMP's Mt Potosi transmitter. Their 18.1-4 sub-channels have been absent since about Sunday evening, at least at my home. Gone for now are their Guns and Glory, A-1, and Tuff network programming.

They have been gone for me since Saturday and was just about to post asking if anyone was still receiving these channels. At least I now know it's not my equipment.

Let's be mindfull that this is not a forum to discuss whether or not the local cable providers are racists. It's there decision whether or not to carry any of the local low power channels and sub-channels. It's our duty to properly notify the cable providers to add those channels and sub-channels we would desire them to carry.

For me, KHMP 18.1 - 18.4 is still down. Not a whiff of a signal with a dedicated outdoor UHF antenna aimed at Mt Potosi. If they are producing any signal, then I suspect their power output level has dropped substantially from the norm of 15kw. All possibly because of last weekends storms.

For my above post I get an AVS infraction for posting material that is considered racist. ROFLMAO

I received an AVS apology. Life is good.

On Cox, the opening ceremonies just started (2AM delay) playing on the 3D channel and it looks great, but sounds even better without any voice over or commentators interrupting every 3 seconds. Also very limited commercials, but at least they are 3D specific and not following the 2d production at all.

Ksnv 8.1 is CBS. Ksnv 8.2 is MV TV. FOX is 5.1, FOX Weather is 5.2 and is higher up in the channels on COX.

There are roughly 60 DTV channels in Las Vegas Valley. I doubt very much that COX or PRISM will carry all 60 channels.
I meant METV, Not MV TV.

KLAS operates 8.1 and 8.2, not KSNV. And yes, it's METV, not My TV.

KHMP has confirmed that they did indeed take a lightning hit to their Mt Potosi transmitting equipment last week. A fix is in the works to restore the four channels of KHMP 18.1 - 18.4.

They must be waiting on delivery of new equipment because they have been down too long. Either that or they just don't have the money to fix the situation.

They seem to have a good revenue stream, by my estimate, so are probably just waiting for a part to be delivered.

Once again, the simulcast of KEEN 17.1 on KNBX 31.2 looks like a poor analog signal yesterday and today.

Sorry klas. That was just me getting my fingers out of sync with my mind.

MundoFox on KMCC 32.1

Along with some other new MundoFox affiliates around the country, Laughlin/Las Vegas KMCC 32.1 has soft launched the network today. So the question would be has Vasallovision departed Vegas airwaves, previously seen on 32.1?

Did KMCC upgrade to HDTV with the launch of MundoFOX?

BTW, DirecTV recently added all of the local HD they were missing (KINC 15, KVMY 21, and KBLR 39) except KELV 27 which they're not mandated to carry since it's an LPTV.

KMCC is currently broadcasting in 480i SD.

It's been a mostly quiet month in Las Vegas for tv sub-channel news. KGNG 47.6, MyFamilyTV, is strobing their signal today. Hopefully that will be resolved soon. KHMP has quietyly added a fourth sub-channel recently. Not long ago they lost the right to transmit RTV within the Vegas Valley, so moved their Guns & Glory network over to 18.1 from 18.2. America One simulcast on both 18.2 and 18.3, while TUFF continued on 18.4. Now, 18.2 and 18.3 are broadcasting separate streams of programming. America One (A1) looks to be the source for KHMP's 18.2 slate of programs, while the source for 18.3 seems to come from a video server pumping out public domain programs.

18.3 is now Family Net. Here's the website for more info: http://www.familynet.com/

Thanks. Yeah, I caught the net ID's last evening, and also spotted a post by Trip on Rabbit Ears. I'd been without reliable KHMP reception for several months. It's good to have them back with a new dedicated Mt Potosi antenna.

Edit 8pm 8/24/2012: Most of the evening schedule of Family Net on KHMP 18.3 is not available for over-the-air broadcasters, being reserved only for cable/sat carriage. So I'd expect to see lots of public domain movies during the prime time block.

Not sure what to think of this, but TitanTV web listings has automatically added to my listings KMCC 34.1 Mundo Fox, KMCC 34.2 Music Videos, and KMCC 34.3 Weather. For several years KMCC has broadcast on rf 32 with a virtual display to channel 32, although some records, including those on RabbitEars.info shows the station to be on channel 34. Another quirk is that Titan is still calling 34.1 "Vasallo"vision. the diginet bumped for their MundoFox berth..
Depends on which transmitter you look at. If in Laughlin, 34-1. If in Dolan Springs, 32-1. If in Vegas, 124-16. Illegal, to say the least. What you're seeing in the guide makes me think that they might intend to have Cool TV and WeatherNation on subchannels.

Weather Nation on KMCC

Weather Nation confirms that they will launch very soon on KMCC, probably on 32.3 (as Titan already lists them on 34.3). The music video service listed by Titan on 34.2 appears to be TR3S rather than The Cool, I believe.

That's two new sub-channels in the launch pipeline for the Vegas Valley. Does that put us at 70 channels and sub-channels? I believe so, if you count the blank 31.3 psip and the two "available for lease signs" on 19.3 and 19.4. Also included are the two standard def channels on 13.2 and 25.2.

Edited 6:30am 8/29/2012: I've reversed by thoughts on the music video network. It looks like the programming of The Cool will once again be available in Las Vegas after having been previously at home on KGNG then on KTNV in past years before being yanked for various reasons.

The Nashville Network

We're about a month out from the national launch of TNN the ota The Nashville Network. Where in Vegas, if anywhere, will the network land? Two dial positions hold my interest. KTNV 13.2 and KEEN 17.5. What's your thoughts?
