Hey guys,

Thought I'd point out another cool feature of Media Browser 3. Here is a video of me browsing my content on an MB3 Android client, and remotely starting a video on Media Browser Classic...

That is indeed cool.

You need to check XBMC constellation out...

I have

and what do you think?

No doubt I'm going to give MB3 a go as soon as the MB3 server is available for Linux, but currently, I think the XBMC constellation is quite hard to beat...

Doesn't matter if you're running XBMC on windows or linux... it simply works!

The thing I like about mb3 is when my wife wants to watch something and can't find what shes looking for and cries for my help I can launch it for her on her tv in the living room from my phone or my desktop PC

You should consider expanding this post to show some folks how you do it ....

Mfusick,

Thanks for reviving this post, I forgot I posted it.

Many of the clients have this feature already...

These remote capable clients have the ability to control...
  • MB3 Dashboard
  • Media Browser Theater (W7 & W8 standalone app) Public Alpha
  • Media Browser Classic (WMC plugin) Download
  • Windows 8.1 Client
  • MB3 for Android

This is a great feature of MB3, and very fun to use. Being able to browse my collection and play movies in my theater right from my tablet is amazing. You can Play, Pause, Skip forward and back, and even mute your movie. MB3 also acts like a whole-home-DVR... If I stop a movie in my theater room, I can simply pick up where I left off in my living or bedroom (as long as a client is running).

@xzener

A while back you posted a link to your cool cover and theme art for MB3 genre/categories. I should have bookmarked it but didn't. Where is that now?

Thanks for the video, I need to get an ipad mini soon so I can use this app.

One thing im curious about, it does not look like it, but is their no arrow or navigation keys in the app?

Sometimes if i have guests I would like to scroll through the movies on screen as well, not just me on my ipad.

Thats one thing i havent found that is included in xbmc app.

This is very cool functionality- now the challenge is how to blend it with something like eventghost/iRule or whatever to control an entire home theater system and not just MB. The holy grail in home theater is being able to control everything intelligently and easily from a single source. Tablets have brought new weapons to this war we wage.

What else are you guys using for control of your systems ?

Harmony One is my main device.

I have a laptop next to me on the end table. I use "mouse without borders" Its pretty slick. I drag my mouse off of the laptop screen and onto my HTPC and TV screen. My laptop mouse and keyboard then control the HTPC.

I have MB3 on my android as well. I hardly ever try to use it for remote, Mainly for waching movies on the road.

Was messing around with this app for a little bit. Is there a way to "play to" a device from my phone instead of watching/listening with my phone? I'd like to use it basically as a remote for my HTPC. Constellation does it pretty slick for XBMC

You can do this in the native MB ios or android app. (or ipad)

Just navigate and then click the ")))" looking icon and then select the device you want to play to (like your htpc)
