No need to use the Managed features for it, unless you plan on creating some VLan's, or QOS to not allow some devices to saturate the switch, to the point that other devices are unable to communicate through it.

I just bought a netgear 16 port switch the other day, GS116NA. Any thoughts on this one? I have a couple of the netgear 8 port (GS108) ones throughout the house and have been working fine for me (knock on wood).

Looks like it is a better step up from the GS108. I have found that the GS108 and the Trendnet 8-port POE I have for my LAN now, does have a little bit of difference, in handling packet traffic, when I go to pull up the share directory on my Lenovo ix2. The Trendnet is able to pull the info up faster and there is no stalling, like there is with the GS-108.

It is mostly a hit or miss, when you trial switches, to find which one works best for your LAN.

I agree. I get the switch in tomorrow so will see how well it plays with my network. Currently my network seems fine save for my dir655 which seems to lag at time with wifi. I have a couple of e3000 I still need to swap in that are running tomato and ddwrt to see of those improve things.

Op what switch did you end up going with?
