I think the main reasons would have to be the intelligent lens aperture, the ability to input 4K, and the better bulb.
Hopefully the dynamic iris adds a nice perceived contrast bump without too many obvious side effects. I think a lot of people are VERY anxious to hear impressions on how well this works.
There were lots of positive reports of how nice it looked displaying native 4K using the 1080p e-shift 3 at CEDIA. Again, I think we are all very curious to get some hands on user feedback on this.
And the new bulbs this year have perform significantly better than previous generations. Many report very minimal drops after hundreds of hours of use and relatively stable calibrations over a similar period.
And then of course there is curiosity about what this new "clear black" feature will add, if anything. There hasn't been much on that yet. So we are all understandably curious to hear feedback on these new models, and there are several reasons someone might want to make the switch to this new generation.
Hopefully the men and women at AVS are having a crazy busy day receiving and shipping these out today. My credit card was billed last night, so I'm hoping that means they were confident that their shipment would be arriving as scheduled.
