I'm getting the RS4910. My first ever projector. I think I jumped right into the big leagues. I wish it had the auto lens cover like the pricier models Does anyone have a howto for a DIY automatic lens cover? Maybe a sliding box instead?

I've done the same thing with every past AVS PJ order (safe bet). I sill have the button batt ver1's from my RS50 and the ver2 USB's from the RS55. This year I will skip the RF's having so much invested in the IR glasses (now 12 for my theater), and the Xpand 3D station working out great.

In terms of sizing if you're a slighter build fella then the medium white's will work well (they fit me fine without my prescription glasses wheres the blue larges are great for glasses wearers or larger dudes). The smalls are really for small children but their site has all the specs for size.

Hi John, thats a tough question actually....hmmnnn....because it has a new shiney button on it? smile.gif
Gosh, thats a question like my other half would ask me and I would come out all flush and sweaty!
I would usually respond with some techno-babble and then she would roll her eyes and go back to watching her black and white TV. (I tune it in for her once in a while smile.gif )

All joking aside though, I hope I'm actually just buying another rs65 but with extra features, namely:

- Intelligent aperture
- Dynamic black
- Extra lumens
- Less ghosting
- RF 3D
- Improved MPC with new auto mode
- Accepts 4k input
- Potential to use auto calibration
- new photo xv colour options
- And with a bit of luck, an extra shiney new button to press smile.gif

Getting in the habit of putting the manual lens cap on after each watch would not be a big deal. If you are worried about the kitchen, just put the manual cap on each time.

Well the last 24 hours have been a roller coater ride. We have been told, yes they are coming and no they are not coming. Last word this morning was, yes they are coming, but the only projectors we received today are the RS6710's. The RS4910's and RS57's are not coming until Monday. frown.gif The 6710's will be shipping out today.

Anybody that paid the extra for the expedited shipping for their RS4910 or RS57, let us know if you want to change to UPS ground and we will refund the added cost (your half) that was charged for 2nd day.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but we did everything within our power to get these projectors in time, including overnight shipping from CA to NY.

Disappointing news for all of us non-6710 owners Mike but thanks for trying so hard to make it happen!

I'm curious what would make you choose this over the 4K Sony for the money?

no attack, just trying to understand the choice?

When you get the 57, please post some baseline calibration info, i'd really like to see how they do this year with OOTB settings.

Hey totally valid question. Since the 4K content is limited at this time I would rather go with a mature 1080p technology for now and upgrade to true 4K in 2~3 years time. As far as the price is concerned I got a great deal from Mike so couldn't pass on that.

You will love it. I still love the pic from my RS4810 to this day! And with the pretty sure chance the RS6710 is better, you'll be thrilled! Please get it calibrated though. JVC's do need calibration more then most other projectors.
But they also have more calibration controls then most too!!!!

I'll tell you congratulations and what a hell of a way to start front projection. smile.gif

Oh just rub it in Jason.. you suck bolla's! biggrin.gif

I will definitely do a quick 124 point CP auto-cal to see which profile is best this year (fingers crossed!).

The Sony was double the street price for me

Hopefully the 67 owners will chime in with their impressions on the iris and clear black. I'm anxious to hear impressions of these features and won't be able to receive my 57 until the 30th.

Ya, sorry for the delay, although it's not something under our control. On the other hand, the anticipation will make the arrival of your new projector just that much more exciting ! smile.gif

So if the projectors are received by AVS Monday, when will that put delivery to the customer with expedited shipping? Thursday? Thanks in advance for keeping us informed.

Correct. As I posted earlier in the thread, let us know if you want to switch back to UPS ground and we will credit the extra that is being charged for 2nd day.

Interesting. Excepting the highest end model, in the end it looks like pretty much everyone, everywhere, will be getting the JVC projectors at essentially the same time give a day or so (supposed to get mine on the 27th). I guess ye canna break the JVC law o' delivery physics.

Thanks man! I will have to depend on you experienced folks to get it all started and working as desired. Going to buy some calibration software/light meter from AVS in February but will also look for a professional in my area.
Well, I guess the original bulb in my lightly used RS40 will last a couple more days until the RS4910 gets here. Still, my fingers are crossed!
Very unfortunate news. Was curious why my email hadn't notified me of any new posts for the past 12 hrs. In my case no news was NOT good news

Anyone know how the auto calibration works for the new JVCs? I have an I1display I use to calibrate my monitors. But I just use the software that comes with it. It works well, at least to my eyes and also made improvements on my bedroom TV. So I am kind excited to try it with my X500. Is there JVC software ?

Unless it's changed from previous models, the auto-cal software forces you to use a Spyder 3 or 4 meter.

They still haven't posted the new model specs as far as I can tell.

It's the same for the x90/rs65 too so I'm going to assume it's going to be the same for the new models as well.

I'm actually looking forward to buying a spyder meter to check out how well the software does on my X90.
