Currently I have a 1gain 4k reference fixed screen. From what I understand the HP screens do not effect black levels? Also I am very interested in a CIH HP screen.
I use 2 HP screens in my setup, one 92" and one 106" in a CIH configuration, see link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58Ncvn_Qtdg
I have a RS35 light engine in a RS20 mounted 1.5' above eye level. The black level is elevated in comparison to a unity gain screen, but so is the white level. Advantage in the HP's and the small sizes I use, is the projector can be run at -15 iris setting, enabling the best contrast from the projector. BTW dark ceiling and rear and side walls.
I don't subscribe to the 12-16 FL, I prefer a 25 FL white level, bright is good, it gives one a dynamic poppin' wow image
it's like a big plasma. Bright images calls on the eyes iris to close down, making the blacks appear better(in mixed scenes) than measurements indicate. Extended fade to black (level)is it's Achilles heel.
