Problem with Marantz SR 5008

I recently set up a media room with B&W M1 speakers and Marantz SR5008. Receiver shuts off randomly the power button keeps flashing continuously. This is a brand new receiver. Just not sure if the receiver is defective or there is an issue with the set up.

Thanks
Raj

RTFM page 188... If it's a fast blink (twice a second) it means the speaker wires are touching each other. Check the connections at both ends of each speaker to make sure there's no contact.

A slow blink (every two seconds) is thermal shutdown. Is the receiver in a cabinet or otherwise in a restricted airflow location?

Thanks..I did RTFM and you are right...bad speaker connections. BTW is there any Iphone/Ipad/Android app that I can control all the devices in my home theatre?

Good! That's was certainly the easier of the two possible conditions to resolve!

Look in the "Remote Control" forum down a few from here - but search for "Roomie Remote", "iRule" and "Harmony Link". Note that all of the app-based solutions will likely require some additional hardware to work with all your existing equipment, and that they all involve a fair amount of DIY work to get them running. It's not a simple click-and-done process... Just know that up front! biggrin.gif

I have a question on projector pole. I have an Epson 3020 projector and my installer mounted the projector on a pretty lengthy pole. I am not comfortable with the length as the projector is reachable to the kids if they stand on a sofa. Installer says that is the only option to mount it at the level of the screen. Is it true? I heard that Epson 3020 have a feature where you can adjust the lens to optimize the image on screen regardless of length of the projector pole.

Manual. wink.gif

Yes, that model doesn't have "lens shift", so the placement is restricted. It has to be no higher than the top edge of the screen.

But hey, if the kids swing on it and break it, you can replace it with a lens-shift model and hang it higher! biggrin.gif

Just thinking out loud for those folks with young kids and this potential issue - maybe some of those anti-pigeon spikes to make a projectupine?

I know you fixed the speaker wire issue. But I have a similar issue so I want to know some details. I guess you didn't use banana plugs to connect the speaker terminals? Was the strands of + and - touching each other?

This might be a silly question but what does the -12db to +12db setting on the receiver imply? Should I be leaving the output level at 0 or adjust to - or +?

Being a newbie to home theatre a lot of questions are popping up as I keep reading the manual.

My setup is as below in 17Lx13.7Wx10H room.
112 inch screen
B&W M1 speakers 5.1
Epson 3020 projector
Marantz SR5008 receiver

Thanks
