Help please: TrueHD DTS-HD MA not working on my blueray Sammsung Home cinema

Hi guys,

I bought last week 3D Blueray Samsung Home theater HT-F6550W http://www.samsung.com/latin_en/consumer/tv-audio-video/home-theater/blu-ray-home-entertainment-systems/HT-F6550W/ZP.

My problem is that I cannot play HD audio (TrueHD, DTS-HD MA) from usb source like external hard drive. I get a message ( The audio codec TrueHD is not supported). However, this module is supposed to support HD Audio. I am really depresed here becasue I only bought it just to play HD Audio.

Please help me to find solution.

Sounds like HD audio is only available when you use the blu-ray player and external sources are not supported, which is not that uncommon. The listed specs don't specifically mention that you can use an external source for HD audio which is usually restricted to blu-ray movies.

Basically, what you are saying is that I can only play movies with HD audio from blu-ray disk. Am I right?

If that is true, what about playing untouched ripped blu-ray movie from my PC via Hdmi. Will it work? Currently, I have old laptop but if I'm thinking of getting HTPC.

I want to backup my blu-ray movies on my hard drive and play them with HD audio.

May need to hook your PC up to something like a Dune player and use it as a media server. Attach an HDMI cable from the Dune to the receiver. Check out the Home A/V Distribution thread for more choices.

Yes. Dan's suggestion about using a media server might be the only way to play back "ripped" movies (provided they were done correctly) with HD audio.

I have been searching the internet to find a solution and I appreciate your help guys. What I have found is that HD audio is playable if it is ripped to AVCHD folder. I did not yet try.

I do not want to buy media player since I have already one which is the Samsung player that part of the HTiB.

Provided the Samsung can properly decode the AVCHD folder and play the audio back HD Audio. I guess all you can do is try. Keep in mind that all-iin-one HTiBs (blu-ray player and receiver) can be limited in what they are capable of as opposed to a receiver and separate blu-ray player.

Correct.

You may be limited. It's not like they want to make it easy for you to play ripped Blu-ray's. biggrin.gif That's where a media server player like Dune comes in.
