Right now I have the onkyo 818 and taking delivery of the 929 today and sellin the 818....I have all focal speakers and right now my setup is 7.1 with front wides as I do not have enough room behind me for rears...

the room is 24' across by 14'

I have 2 extra speakers that I could run as front high speakers but I have never heard them setup like that and dont know of the receiever will do both fronts and high.....will the highs make a BIG difference or is it not so much?

any other info would be appreciated.

as of now I do not plan on doing 11.2.

Can you even have BOTH front wide and front high speakers since I do not have any surround rear speakers?

With the 929 DTS NEO X can do both high and wides. You can't run both with PL2Z or Audyssey DSX.
Be sure to give us your impressions.

I run an 11.3 system with wides and heights. They mainly play ambient background sounds. Occasionally I'll hear something that sounds like it's high up. I think it's better than running 7.1, but it's not must have.
