I'm looking for advice on how best to set up a new home cinema, including seating and HT gear. We may have to do this in stages, and we need to do the wiring at the time the house is built, so if a projector is the cheaper/better option, we'll need a conduit put in the ceiling (it's double storey) by the builder, plus conduit and power/speaker wiring in the walls. In fact, we probably won't be able to afford to put the cinema equipment in for 6-12 months but we want to make sure we get the room set up correctly at the very least.
We've pretty much settled on a house design which can be seen here http://www.porterdavis.com.au/homes/lifestyle/marbella. It may be possible to get the room made bigger but not much.
It's 4m x 5.2m which isn't huge and obviously limits our options.
Given the size, I suspect we'd have to put the screen on the wall at the bottom of the picture above, which would give us room (just) for a 4 seater cinema sofa such as the following which is 3.6m wide.
Does that look decent? We may have to settle for a regular sofa to save some money.
Would you actually put the sofa on the left wall or should we try to have two rows of seating?
The HT Equipment
We don't want top end gear, and we don't even know if we should go with a projector or just a 60+ inch TV.
Our budget is probably no more than $10k for the electronics and any room treatment to improve the acoustics.
- Which TV?
- Alternatively, which screen and projector?
- Which Bluray player?
- Which speakers?
- Which home theatre receiver?
- What else will I need?
Thanks for any advice that you can give.
